SPX b/o spread size- a real question about "THEY"

I trade almost exclusively OEX and it seems to me that with the contraction of VIX, (except the past couple sessions) spreads have narrowed a bit. That would make sense if SPX is taking volume, but I think it's volatility related. If thats correct why is SPX getting wider? Maybe demand, maybe...

    COBE makers must be anonyed.

I enjoy it when NOMORE makes one of his whiny posts. It reassures me that there is still someone to take advantage of.

MacMillan is saying that VIX isn't necessarily what it use to be. The current readings, while seemingly are quite low, are still higher than actual market volatility. So don't look for a collapse just yet according to him. VIX could go lower still. Actual market vol =around 11

    IB and Cancel Fees

Received word monday morning from customer service; "anytime you press cancel; you will be charged a 1.20 fee, even if the order executes". I wonder what QDZ has to say about that?

    IB and Cancel Fees

Yeah they are a nuisance for sure but can be dealt with. Just a cost of doing business. I just want the policy clarified. Can we be charged both fees on one order?

    IB and Cancel Fees

I hesitate to post this but am going to anyway. On 10/2/03 I had orders execute that totalled 15 contracts, all routed SMART. 15 contracts times .25 = 3.75 credits against cancels. No problem so far and IB agrees with the 3.75 During the trading day I placed four cancels, two of which...

    IB check request ??

Lobster: They may, I have never asked that, but it seems to me that if there was a stop payment, then the answer to the original question would be "no". Either way you'd be ahead of the game.

    IB check request ??

IF you accept a check that you suspect is NSF, you can call the bank it is written on and request a "verification of funds" in that account. It's done thousands of times a day by retail outlets. I have saved myself grief over the years by employing this technique.

    Front month ITM buy/write

Also, if RIMM should advance by only 30 cents you would have been better off not being short the call. My preference would be a spread or a short put.

    Is IB using FIFO?

I understood you to mean option contracts. From an accounting standpoint they use FIFO.

    IB Commissions/power outage

Check your daily statements for this week carefully. I found option commission errors on mine. I'm sure it was a glitch caused by the outage. IB corrected immediately when I pointed it out, but I could have missed it easily.
