I haven't read the CFTC report in detail but to me, they will walk away free with the cash as long as they didn't hammered the may outright just before and during the 2 min settlement window. That's the old Optiver case where they were buying loads of TAS contracts during the day and pushing the...
I navigated the first leg of the ag bull market pretty well, but have been struggling in the last 2 months. I was like 3/4 long during fall and half long/half short during winter. From now on, I will privilege longs until at least the end of the year. As read everywhere, we are in the midst of a...
That was a nice thread. I am wondering if some here like xandman, i960 or propwarrior have found some gold in their tight range multileg mean reverting techniques...Perhaps they will want to share or even better...pretend they wasted their time, when all of a sudden all their posts are on the...
Bullish : Anti fracking regulation, Possible reviews of pipelines already in place, Pfizer Vaccine, Asian demand.
Bearish : Probable end of Iranian and Venezuelan crude ban, green fuel agenda, Europe renewed lockdowns.
I haven't calculated it recently, but I suspect it has gone down a lot, since I had a good drawdown last year that lasted 5 months peak to peak. I had no losing months in 2017 and 2018, 2 in 2019 and 1 this year. 2018 was my best year but I may top it this year. I am slowly moving from intraday...
I'd like to add my stupid comments even though who really cares:
1. Anybody who says they didn't know these future contracts could go negative had no business trading them. Other futures contracts have gone negative. The fact is, the CME published a notice about this possibility before it...
By the way, if the dude accumulated more than 200 contracts with a 77K$ account, he deserves a good part of what he got. I was watching the book when it turned negative. there was some big bids @ 0 and 0.25. I was thinking :" You are pretty confident, folks..."
I am really impressed with IB as well. I have been a customer since 2007. Talk shit all you want, but Peterffy is probably one of the few guys who has made retail finance progress in the last 30 years.
Are they only forgiving negative balances or reimbursing losses due to negative pricing to...
Hello,
I tried to place a few metal calendar spread orders in the last few weeks with my IB account and everytime my order is rejected because of an absurd initial margin requirement( like 50K per lot for a gold calendar spread ). At first, I thought it was that IB applied crazy margins due to...
I use the COT to gauge the potential of a reversal when specs have record positions( and may have to cover if the market goes the other way ). That's all. For most positions, I don't even watch it.
It depends but for scalping, you need some important daily ranges to negate the fees impact. Crack spreads are a good example of a spread you can scalp. For ags, it is better to stick to outrights as the daily range of spreads is too small.
Hello, for the long term trades I post here, I had a poor start to the year followed by a good crisis period. I guess I had some better energy trades than ag. My daily scalping/Short Term trading has been going really well since march as well( as it should be with the volatility ).
Hello,
I have the habit of using IB to make my currency conversions and avoid the outrageous forex spreads displayed by most FCMs, but I have a problem with my new one( Phillip Capital ) which doesn't make wires to non-US FCMs (like IB UK for me). I need euros in everyday life and my bank in...
