    Larry Williams/COT Reports

Oh please, can I spend my time convincing a closed-minded fool that free, publicly available information is worth looking at? Again, if COT is so worthless to you, don't use it. Into the ignore list with you.

    Larry Williams/COT Reports

Why bother? If you don't like COT, don't use it. Why I need to prove to you that it's worth your time is beyond me.

    Larry Williams/COT Reports

I haven't read his book, but COT is as good as gold, IMHO. It's a critical part of my trading strategy and has been extremely prescient. I've found it most useful in the ags--any industry that has true "motivated" commercials (as opposed to banks hedging or some other semi-related commercial)...

Are coffee NYBOT and NYMEX related?

They are not the same contract specs. One is cash settled, the other is physically delivered. The NYMEX contracts do not "track" anything. They both trade separately. Much like electronic bonds and pit bonds are entirely separate markets and move independently. NYBOT contracts are now...

I got a hedge fund job

I would have loved $60k base, a chance at a bonus, and working in the industry of my choice fresh out of college. Take it and run!

Real infation rate (Including Food and Energy)

I don't know of any websites offhand, but pay attention to the GDP Deflator and M3. The GDP deflator may be one of the cleanest ways of measuring inflation as it "automatically" takes into account quality and substitutions rather than having the government decide on a basket. M3 is no...

    'Respected posters' please post here

Good grief, read your own threads. Second post down: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=96590&perpage=6&pagenumber=4 If you really want to know the details, spend some time in this thread: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=62388...

    Fed rates in late 70's

You can still derive M3. I believe Surdo posts a chart every month or so.

    Fed rates in late 70's

Yes, indeed. I'm not aware of the relationship between broader interest rates and the margin rate (currently 50%). (I'm sure there is one, but I don't know what it is). As to CPI... The GDP deflator may be one of the cleanest estimates of real inflation, and it's not politically...

    Fed rates in late 70's

The spike was caused by pretty horrific inflation (and a change in Fed tactics), and of course it could happen again. In '79, the Fed changed from focusing on the fed target rate to changing the bank reserve level. This caused a wild spike in interest rates. Remember, the fed can do three...

Bring up the option table for EUR (the futures contract at GLOBEX) and use the filter to just look at the "XT" Trading Class. Those are European style.

A stock market or a 10-Yr Bond market?

The Fixed Income market is important. Without cheap capital, LBOs, mergers, stock-for-debt swaps all stop happening. With higher interest rates, there's something competing for investment dollars. If you can get 6 or 7% in coupons with no risk, why take 40%+ drawdowns with the hope of making a...

    ES FutureOptions

There are Euro-style currency options traded at CME. I've traded European style EuroFx options frequently. I'm not aware of any others (Euro-style futures options) with significant liquidity.

    ES FutureOptions

There are both European and American style ES options. The European ES options are also called "EOM" or "End of Month" options.

WK07-WN07 Spread : Data problem or huge spread width?

Let's say Goldman owns May and they need to roll into July. They are essentially putting on a spread: Sell May, Buy July Otherwise known as a bear spread in these carry commodities. :-)

WK07-WN07 Spread : Data problem or huge spread width?

The difference in the May/July spread last October is correct. A number of wheat floor traders got blown out during that event. In essence, the locals were trading with the Goldman roll (bear spreading). Some bad weather news hit (worst drought in Australia in 100 years), and the spread exploded.

IB Trouble Tickets - your experience?

IB's tech support seems to go on vacation for a few months at a time. Sal, IB's manager of technical support, will appear on ET, apologize for problems, and great response will ensue for about 3 weeks. Then, it's back to the usual lack of response. I have two tickets still open. One was...

US Treasury Bond Continuation Chart Question

A move from 111 to 109 would be 200 basis points, not 20. :-) In any case, the structure of the market must have changed. On 12/21/99: USH0 : 91 1/32 USZ9 : 111 2/32 In other words, on the same day, the Mar bond closed at 91, the Dec bond closed at 111. My guess is the conversion...

Best site for learning bond valuation and interest rate?

CBOT and CME both have really good educational material on exactly these topics. Look for webinars, papers, etc. Look under their respective fixed income products (bonds, notes, eurodollars). CME's Eurodollar presentations are particularly useful.
