    Trader P/L 2005

ISP down for about 90% of the morning, and don't feel like trying to wing it on 56k...expecting light losses today, will post. Takin' the rest of the day off, time ta hit the beach.

Got beat up on the reit short side again today, caught the miday drop, covered, got long, dumped, got short. That dive saved my butt. Made a couple of other nice trades to pull in the other half. +10.1K MTM, 9.9k realized.

You're THIS consistent since may 4??!! That means outta the box, you're more consistent than 85-90% of the traders here already. Do what you've been doing. Learn risk control & money management. Take your time, and keep scaling up. As soon as you've got some decent capital together, go retail...

    Trader P/L 2005

Hey! Don't beat on our favorite underdog on this thread! He's got consistency that is outstanding. I'd say he's averaging about $100/day when the dust settles. I bet he can and will scale up, in due time. We all started there, and most not as well as Szeven.

    New IB Features

Thanks again for resolving so many of the issues, especially the order lag. It's been a huge help already, my volume has definately picked up. Do the orders cancel & replace themselves on NY now, after 4-5min, or do the stay static on NY? To All ET'rs: I've been working with IB on really...

Thought it was gonna be only a 1k day here....but caught the up in some brazilian securites, after getting knocked around in there...again. Traded reits again today, got nailed by the swing up after lunch. Caught a couple VERY nice gaps today....those made about half the day. MTM +9.1k with...

    Trader P/L 2005

While, slightly hostile in tone, you're correct. It's the long run that matters for traders. 10yrs sounds like a good mark for measure. I've got a couple to go to get there, had to re-invent my edge a couple/three times to stay profitable. The long haul is why risk control is so important...

    Trader P/L 2005

I do a bit of everything, so for my discretionaries, I like to go after volitility, but not really indivdual securities. (Unless it's baskets at a time). The tail wags the dog in many emerging countries, so ADR & spider volume is better here, than in the underlying many times. Clearing is an...

Can't say I'll take part in the flamefest, it's a waste of energy. Why do I post my P&L? It pushes me to stay focused and make the best trades I can, so thank all of you. It's a great thread, with many 1-2k/day guys...well done all! I really like seeing people like Szeven post as well. I...

    Trader P/L 2005

It's definately about the "fix" -or the thrill, to be sure! Money is just keeping score these days. I'm a hybrid, and after much thought about full auto, no way,as I nail program after automated program that is in error, made 10's of K's hitting them (and most of the time they operate very...

    Trader P/L 2005

We're two peas in a pod, mksummny. I've been taking lots of time off when the market isn't forking it over, but I hit it hard when it is. I handle leisure time much the same way as you. Money isn't all that important after a while, we can just "get our trade on" --when we'd like a couple extra...

    Trader P/L 2005

MTM, 8.2k today, realized: 7.7k. Made a crummy trade with size right at the open, threw away almost 2k. :( Feels like my stuff is toning down a bit, I'd guess the bigger P/L numbers will taper off some. About 20 p/l lines didn't show up after re-log in at IB, so the screenshot is of P/L...

Can completely discretionary traders every succeed?

Tides ebb & flow like bids & asks. IF you can read them, you'll be able to profit from them as a purely discretionary trader. Kick in a lil T/A, and your set. Old wild west, shoot from the hip. Discretionary is definitely more "by feel" & experience. I'm a mix. I've got pretty solid rules &...

    Trader P/L 2005

Risk arb, scalping, various other discretionary trades....multiple systems I've used for a while that come together to create consistency. Yesterday was quite volatile, for what I'm used to. MTM I was up only 3500, but booked realized profits of 20.5k (and had unrealized of -15k, and...

    Trader P/L 2005

Got the volitility reeled in on those arbs, today, and got yesterday's reit profits back. Best non-gap, trade day, I've had....+$25.6K MTM today across all accounts. Had more, but threw it back, after I got wipsawed after the fed meeting.

    Trader P/L 2005

Size. :D Really insane day in the reits again yesterday. Pulled $32k in them, then my arbs volitlity widened on other securities....killing almost all my profits. In the end, pulled +3500 for the day, on 520k shares --huge volume for me. A very disappointing day.

    Trader P/L 2005

Busiest day of the year. 295,000 shares. Got walloped -5k in the reits (see RMP index), traded my way out, ended up making about 8k in there (13k swing). Took a bunch of chips off the table today, realized: about 15k at IB & 2.8k at other brokers. Net MTM today: $9700. I usually don't...

    Trader P/L 2005

What I've found: In these kind of trades, forget almost all technicals. Look at a quick 1 min chart for general daily support....just as REFERENCE ONLY. Read the orderflow, never fight it. Your trade was buying a falling knife, based on technicals, against all orderflow. Acknowledge the...

    Ib Tws Down

Welcome back hayman! Downgrading your TWS won't help, there are multiple issues going on, none really due to the upgrade. I've been working with IB on hammering out some various TWS issues. I believe, currently, it's an ISP & firewall issue for the outages.
