    Predicting Day's Range

I've been investigating opening ranges, 8-9am as opposed to 9-10am and volume for same time period. Seems like if volume really increases from 9-10 vs 8-9 it lends itself to larger range days.

    Predicting Day's Range

Think of weather- no one knows *exactly* what it will be tomorrow, but that doesn't stop us from forecasting it. If you could forecast with a 60-70% probability from data the range of tomorrow's market, it would give you a great edge.

    Predicting Day's Range

Originally I thought that the overnight trading range of the SP could be used to approximate the RTH range, but there seems to be little correlation. It does seem that when we get a large opening gap, either positive or negative (greater than 10pts) we end up with a trend day. Any thoughts on that?

What do people think of Dr. Brett Steenbarger?

I love his stuff. He puts an unbelievable amount of information on his site/twitter all for free. No one will agree with everything he says, but who ever agrees with everything someone says. He helps you think more than anything.

    grain spreaders

What are the factors that cause a spread to move up or down? For example, I've been watching the spread between Dec09 Corn and May10 Corn and the spread has been around 19 for a week or so. What are the various events that would make that spread increase or decrease?

Why is Macke Out From CNBC?

How can you tell when the crowd is over-optimist or over-pessimist?

Go to your local bank- ask to see the financial advisor. Ask him how many clients called him that month to redeem mutual funds. When this number is high, you buy. When his clients are calling to add to their investments, you sell. Pretty simple indicator.

Why is Macke Out From CNBC?

Actually most republicans in power (bush, cheney, etc.) actually dodged the draft and therefore didn't actually do anything military related. Its very important to note that when called on to serve their country, each of these men said, "Nope, not me. I have better priorities."
