Black Tuesday - BEAR MARKET MODE GENTLEMEN!!!

Yes Mr. Gates you're right. I am the T-Shirt king! Both American Apparel and Gildan are shaking in their boots. As you can see from visiting my trading blog over 96% of its surface area is taken up by ads for my awesome t-shirts. Did I mention I sell t-shirts? Just wanted to clear that up...

Black Tuesday - BEAR MARKET MODE GENTLEMEN!!!

Obviously it turned out that my bullishness in January was wrong. I followed the usual indicators and that's about as much as I can do. I don't have a crystal ball :D In mid-March though I wrote: 12 Reasons Why This Is An Intermediate Bottom I started to become cautions in mid-April and more...

Can anyone explain this broker response?

I actually visited a friend who worked at a full-service brokerage and that is how it worked. The client would call, he would write up the trade, walk it over to the person in the office, drop it off in their 'inbox' and walk away. Then later in the day or the next day, they would get a slip of...

    Arima Capital

so lemme get this straight, it is now "sleazy" to share one's opinion? providing detailed reasoning and arguments? and doing so without charging anything for it? or selling anything? wow... following that logic everyone here on ET is "sleazy". nice threadjacking btw! you've got a fabulous...

    Recommended Reading

Asada, re Harris, thanks for the recommendation. On amazon I see there are lots of glowing reviews but I wonder how outdated it is in the fast paced financial world after 6 years of publication. Here it is on google books

    Arima Capital

The reports of Arima's demise are apparently greatly exaggerated, according to Ron: Arima Capital LLC decided to just work directly with Assent to recruit, hire and train traders. They still have all their traders, just under Assent. I suppose this means they are a sub-LLC of Assent (?)

    Arima Capital

Yeah, did you notice the "SEC Action" in red beside it? Thought I'd leave it up as a flare for those who are doing their DD to be careful when approaching prop firms. Not that the other firms on the list are shady necessarily, but rather just a show of the kinds of risks that are out there.

Black Tuesday - BEAR MARKET MODE GENTLEMEN!!!

wow, just the kind of post that I'd love to see! the retail investors have already soiled their pants and the market is deep oversold... and then I find this on ET we'll see how it all shakes out but personally, I think we're about to see a great buying opportunity, this goes into detail why.

    Nasdaq to NYSE Volume Ratio

nazzdack, yeah, I do. The chart is just recent years. But I was wondering if anyone else is using it. Its curious how the markets have changed (Nasdaq is not what it used to be) but the ratio seems to work still. What other sentiment indicators are you suggesting to use in conjuncture with...

    Nasdaq to NYSE Volume Ratio

Any one else watching the ratio of Nasdaq volume to NYSE volume? (see chart in link) I'm bullish right now but this kind of gives me pause. Would appreciate any comments from better technical analysts out there. Cheers

    Did Niederhoffer Lie To Baron?

totally agree, I haven't yet changed anything or taken down anything on my blog. Is the WSJ going fwd? Can you provide any more info?

    Did Niederhoffer Lie To Baron?

Thunderdog, too much legal liability. I don't think Baron wants the hassle or the costs. On my tiny blog I've already gotten pushed around by prop firms that felt negative comments left by visitors were "libel". And been threatened with a visit from their lawyers.

Tim Sykes Article in Financial Times

Tim, did you loan them money or buy their stock? If a loan, was it secured or unsecured? Or was it some sort of hybrid multi headed beast of a deal? You seem to contradict yourself.

I have not been informed by any moderator or Baron in private (IM) nor in public on any thread that I've seen. If you know of a message for me from the moderators on a thread, please refer me to it specifically, I'd appreciate it. What you refer to as "crap" is my contribution to the...

    Shocked by fed decision

dhpar, Why the personal insult? we're simply discussing an interesting topic. To address what you say, I'm referring to the short term fixed income market, not the Fed Funds futures market. So I'm not sure what it is that you're saying exactly. In any case, according to the FF futures...

    Shocked by fed decision

Ummm... No. The Fed lowered rates to bring them in line with what the fixed income market was dictating to them (see graph). Mike Swanson is a permabear and a gold bug of the first degree. He has been fighting against the bull market that started in 2002 tooth and nail. And he has...
