Trading a few instruments Vs a large portfolio of instruments

I trade only futures, for its liquidity and low trading costs. The cost for research is also lower.

    2012: The Battle for Survival

Clearly this is enjoyment for HIM. Even with his balancing dropping below $100k, he still drew $$ from his account. And it appears he has not changed much of the way he traded. It is still fun to read the thread and learnt something from it. It he started from almost $0, pulled about 1/2...

    2012: The Battle for Survival

Well, he said this is only his side job and he has another day job. So why he would need $100k a year? Over the years, he has pulled a lot of $. Hope he did not spend all of that in expendable expenses. With the amount of $ he started, it seems this is just fun for him. Trading is exciting...

Solo LLC vs Individual on Earnings

I believe you can file LLC return the same way as a multi-member LLC, like a S-corp or partnership. This is why LLC is so flexible.

Solo LLC vs Individual on Earnings

This is interesting. I think there is still some flexibility on how you file the tax on the LLC. I think some file LLC as a real trading business, as if you run a money management firm with other's capital. Then it is a business, with full set of expenses and profit/income. You can deduct...

    No Love For Apple

Heard Chinese is staging a nationwide campaign against AAPL. AAPL is too powerful and has a huge market share. Resentment. Bad for AAPL. Remember the days when Google tried to muscle the Chinese? Hard lesson.

    ES Journal - 2013

I do not feel strong that ES going to have a strong day. It may test or break the record, but I'm ready to take profit and run with my $ for the long weekend. I do not know what shoe is going to drop in Europe. Short a little. Look to short more.

    CL Looks Tired (3/26/2013)

This is funny. Supply and demand of the trading instruments, not the actual energy supply and demand? This is just a joke. When traders talk about energy supply/demand, they always talk about the underlying physical commodity. Sigh.....

Solo LLC vs Individual on Earnings

That is part of it. But if you are solo with no outside capital, there is no or little liability to speak about.

    CL Redux

The action of CL yesterday shows near term toppish. It could not hold the gain even when stock index finished strong. Looking for a consolidation on the downside. Covered my $96.55 short. Look to short again.

    CL Looks Tired (3/26/2013)

Someone said CL trades with energy supply/demand fundamentals. Good luck with it. What fundamentals drive CL up again, although only slightly? Fundamentals have been bad or bearish for a long time. And CL only dropped with the euro crisis. Now it is up again, even divergent from the EUR...

    IB's IRA Margin Account

You do not need all the stuff you mentioned. If you want leverage, trade futures. You can't short stocks, but you can certainly short stock index futures. The beauty is that you do not have wait for T+3. So the funds are more efficient. Also, faster to get lost in the market volatility....
