Real world trading performance of the CTAs and hedge funds

Does anyone know what it takes to be a fund and get benchmarked with others? Many of the funds are smaller than my personal portfolio. None of the returns match the return of the trading portion of my portfolio either. I'll be honest, I'd like to do it for my ego and bragging rights, but if...

Looking for an Account Manager for $500K Account

Day trading money manager is an oxymoron. Successful long time day trader willing to open his playbook is a future unsuccessful day trader. You will attract only Timothy Sykes types, the short term successful day trader who can't really define why they're successful (certain pattern that works...

Looking for an Account Manager for $500K Account

I'm curious how this deal would eventually be structured for the money manager. x% on assets, +y% on gains? Since the target bogey is so high at an annualized 50%, does the y% only kick in at the annualized return? If x was 1% and y was 5% and the bogey was SPX benchmark marked to market and...

Scaling a Holy Grail (swing trading)

I'm sure the big funds spread their orders around, Every stock's absorption of large positions is different but obviously a function of their volume. I don't think the way I trade currently would scale but I don't think swing trading is rarely the basis of an entire fund. I was once offered a...

    Strip Straddle

I don't get what or why you would put that trade on. If your bearish, just buy puts, if your bullish, sell the put and use the premium to buy the call, if your indifferent and think vol is flat then straddle or strangle it, if you think vol will increase, calendar spread it.

    What languages are programmers learning?

Good topic. I'm an ex (long time ago) developer and I've never heard of any of those. I'd like to know what language has advantages in programming algos and why? It was inferred to me by a rep at a brokerage firm that it was still C++.

What's the current view of Tasty Trade after Karen-the-Faker?

No, I actually get it. I don't disagree with anything you said and appreciated your previous post, I just think Sosnoff's motives (being a shill) are transparent and he's not crooked. The worst thing I hate about trading for a living is the "lone wolf, lack of social stimuli" aspect of it and...

Yesss keep cutting those rates...Bank of England cuts rates to 0.25%

"QE Infinity", "Buy bonds with immunity inpunity". I love it. Finance is on the leading edge of new language construction. I myself am making a post Brexit, mid QE Infinity, pre Frexit bet on immune banks because their bankers will continue to act with inpunity!

What's the current view of Tasty Trade after Karen-the-Faker?

"And Tom Sosnoff is probably the next to be investigated by the SEC." C'mon, I'll admit that their business model is to be a shill for Ameritrade and generate commissions and many of their strategies are definitely commision heavy, but Sosnoff and team have created a great service to us traders...

What's the current view of Tasty Trade after Karen-the-Faker?

Free research, free insights, live trading, friendly virtual community and comrades in arms. What's not to like? They're ex floor traders with value preferences to match. Trading small, often, collecting premium and managing/rolling often is their style. They're typically agnostic about...

Special and important strategies for Options trading.

Researching an underlying and forming an opinion, implementing one of the infinite strategies to capitalize on it can be learned from books or from others. Survey: Financial advisers not so popular with millionaires

I forget what the actual number was, but it was like 70-75% of money managers do worse than the benchmark. In reality, they do no better of worse than the benchmark, but because of their overhead and fees, they do much worse. The study also showed that higher management fees never correlated...

What Dollar Amount Do You Stop At If You Slammed Two Big Ones?

It's a great problem to have and I'm dealing with it as well this earnings season. Teach Me Your Profitable Trading-Style and You Will Get 25.000 EURO

This thread is either a joke or the poster is unaware how unsensical it is. 1% off 10,000 is only $100 per trade. Finding 5% per month trades every month (60% annualized) is easy with options, harder with equities, but impossible with the terms stated.
