    Home Office Deduction

85 Watts, this is an Intel i7, 4GB, 4 hard drives but does not include the monitor (which isn't attached to the UPS)

    Home Office Deduction

Interesting, I leave 3 machines running 24 x 7 and consume nowhere near that much power - you would need to average 500 watts 24 x 7 to hit $26 for a month at 8 cents/KWh. If you use a SmartUPS (that tells you current draw) or a Kill A Watt type device I think you will find that a PC...

    Home Office Deduction

If you use said office for anything other than trading (even rarely) then you cannot take the home office deduction therefore it follows that they would not expect every professional trader to take the deduction.

    Home Office Deduction

False choice. A return that contains a schedule C has a higher chance of being audited than a return that does not (all else being equal). Putting questionable answers on the schedule C raises your risk much more - no argument there.

    Home Office Deduction

Since its well known that filing a sched C does increase your chances of being audited I guess you are saying that the home office deduction also increases your chances.

    Home Office Deduction

There is a story floating around about someone who claimed the home office deduction, got audited and then brought in a picture of the claimed home office space and the auditor noticed a dog dish on the floor and disallowed the whole deduction based on that. You'd have to be really careful to...

You're holding short positions from 1140 & 1172 but are convinced the market is going to 1220? I guess if the market goes down you will be right and if the market goes up you will also be right.

    laptop reliability

Consumer reports found no laptop brand as a stand out in reliability. Apple had the best rating (9% requiring repair or having a serious problem) but even the worst, Dell, had a 12% rating and according to CR differences of 3% or less are not statistically meaningful I've had good luck...

You are cherry picking data, FV was 1056 on Friday ("10-07-11 09:52 AM - FV 1056.75") - so it's only 40 points higher now....big deal.

The whole mid-morning update was confusing/unnecessary. A 7 point move in FV (1084 to 1091) is ballistic?
