Why do traders hold positions when the underlying doesn't do what's expected?

Nutmeg, howdy. I read alot of your jokes and tell some of them! As a person who has never bet on anything, I think you meant to say 'can't' get your money back (?). If so, good point which then makes me wonder why my grandmother and great aunt never played around in the market.

Waiting for the confirmation. I'm not just going to jump in there without a solid probability as to direction. If I miss I miss.

Why do traders hold positions when the underlying doesn't do what's expected?

Interesting spin! But wouldn't consistent trading be more satisfying? Otherwise, why bother? Many of the posts I've read undermine frustration due to what appears to come across as hope. Is it really that hard for many to just let go and take a loss? And, seeing that you mentioned it as a form...

Why do traders hold positions when the underlying doesn't do what's expected?

As a trader who only trades stocks, I'm at 100% cash right now, (11/2/9) and have been since Thursday last week, simply because my positions didn't do what I expected. In general, I'm confident with my methodology so when things don't "feel" right, I get out and wait for an indication and...

http://www.scribd.com/doc/14348961/The-Great-Beyond-Higher-Dimensions-Parallel-Universes-and-the-Extraordinary-Search-for-a-Theory-of-Everything Enjoy! I tried to find a painting by Salvador Dali that is almost completely filled with orbifolds but to this point had no luck. I keep...

I love this stuff! Thank you so much. I have questions for you and some of my own personal input but I promised the little guy that we'd go see a movie due to him helping to rake the leaves! One thing that I'd like to add now is that as a drummer (not percussionist), I have competed in...

There is a great article in the new Seed Magazine on the relationship between music and mathematics. It is hands down the best article I have ever read on it. If you enjoy how art and science are one and the same, I strongly recommend you read that article...

    Right/Left hemisphere

The War of the Brains The two brains not only see the world in vastly different ways but, in our current society, the left side just "doesn't get" what the right side is all about. It tends to dismiss anything significant coming into consciousness from its "flaky" cranial twin. Sometimes two...

"Experiments show that most children rank highly creative (right brain) before entering school. Because our educational systems place a higher value on left brain skills such as mathematics, logic and language than it does on drawing or using our imagination, only ten percent of these same...

lol to kinda sidestep the original direction of this thread, I am a right brained trader. In iq tests, I score high in abstract reasoning and need to visualize and 'feel' information for it to register at a higher level. My background is in music and is accomplished and extensive. I mention...

some interesting (michigan) fyi: Is it okay to have a pistol with a 15 round clip? Yes, as federal law 18USC Sec 922 effective September 30, 1994 which prohibited an individual from having a firearm with a clip holding over 10 rounds, was repealed effective September 1, 2004. Is it...

    BWolinsky Trading

q's going to 39ish within the next week (if weak) to two (if strong). If it takes two, I believe the probability of a sideways market is much higher than if it hits that point immediately. If it hits it fast, next leg down is 36ish. If it gets to the 36 level, it should prove to be very strong...

    DJIA 9300ish coming next month

imho, spx isn't going to 400-600 but myself personally I take it one day at a time, and today, I don't see that. I see weak sectors, but the numbers in Q3 are mostly coming in on the high end of estimates (I believe it was on over 80% of those who reported already). I think it would take an...
