    Market charlatans

Personally, I felt Michael's book was very good at its purpose, which was an introduction to trend following. The book itself never really covers individual strategies. Still, a good book to introduce a concept. Carter's book was ok; he gives some strategies which some are dubious. The main...

So you just signed up for ET to pry into your "friend's" personal financial matters? This is a creepy thread that should've been deleted.

Pro Golfer: Why Work with a 63% Tax Rate ?

Didn't you know freedom of speech and the right to be offended are only available to liberals?

    Wells Fargo PMA account

I have this; this is mostly a banking product. They have a brokerage/investment arm, but I don't think it's like a traders brokerage, but as I said, an investment brokerage.

Pro Golfer: Why Work with a 63% Tax Rate ?

He's a US national, so he can't escape US federal taxes no matter where he goes in the world. The IRS has universal tax jurisdiction. He can leave CA for a lower tax state though. FL is obviously popular with athletes. If it's just Federal + CA, I think that's a little above 50%, but not sixty...

Ok, you use quite of bit of fundamental analysis. Makes sense. If it works for you, great. Haters gonna hate.

    Tastytrade

Tastytrade has been out for a while, so it's a good time to see what ETers think. My initial impression: overall I think it's good, with a few drawbacks. The good: their headline program with Tom and Tony is well done. Both of them are natural and the banter back and forth makes for a lively...

Did Robert Hoffman really lose 312K in a single TF trade? Yikes!

Jack Swager's TA textbook does that. There's around 250 pages of that, but it's his strategies.

I think you'll find elitetrader to be the best. Traderslaboratory is very noobish, and trade2win and bigmike's are a step down.

5 years from now you may regret not buying a house today...really?

This is a great encapsulation of why I'm not buying, despite my parents being after me to buy. Also, I like being mobile and able to move around if I want to.

best ET post of the year

He did break it up into many paragraphs, but it's a good observation. One though that's out there all over the place. The country is fiscally and economically conservative enough that full out European Socialism will probably never come to pass. The US is much more of a money oriented culture...

    Maria-- CNBC

What's so interesting is that despite NBC being far left, CNBC has been promoting this interview all over their website, and it appeared on realclearmarkets as well. Maria must be getting lots of kudos for the interview despite the liberal hate.

    Doesn't look good for retailers

Though it was nine at night, Best Buy was almost completely empty where I live. It was frankly scary because that location used to get lots of people. I don't think it's economy based; the nearby Target and the nearby luxury mall were both full. Bad omen for Best Buy shareholders.

    Programming for idiots

I know what you're saying about developers. I personally worked with an outstanding ETer on automated work. But, check out X_Trader's adl. It's literally what you're asking for; it's building a strategy through bricks and connectors. No coding experience and they have a very good training...
