    2014: The Battle for Survival

"Everyone gets what they want from the market" You need to contemplate that famous quote and think about what it really means because you are a textbook example. When you know what to do, but still do the opposite, you are satisfying some kind of need. You are DOOMED if you don't figure it out.

    2014: The Battle for Survival

I re-read your post and see you realized right away the excess risk and adjusted for it. Good job. Your trade result distribution looks good too. Honestly the best thing you can do is remember that the #1 goal of trading is always: PROTECT YOUR CAPITAL #1. Always. Write it down and...

    2014: The Battle for Survival

Glad to see you are still plugging away and still posting. I've followed all your posts along your journey and in my opinion, you already have what it takes to achieve long term success. You obviously have a profitable strategy and you have most of what I'd call a trader's mindset. However...

Bright & T3 for overnight pairs?

I don't think Bright is letting anyone keep 100% of their profits anymore. In fact that might be gone all together from the prop scene.

Grinding it out, day after day

Glad to hear this journal helped you Charlie, that's why I started it. Keep working hard. Think like a pro and act like one.

Grinding it out, day after day

You guys make some decent assumptions. Could I make more if I worked more? Yes, I'm pretty confident I could. But as was mentioned, at a certain point more money doesn't mean as much. My time and lifestyle are worth much more. I am fortunate to have a freedom that anyone would envy. I...

Grinding it out, day after day

No, it's not. I'm still here, doing the same thing every day. This thread can remain a part of the ET archives and served it's purpose. I won't give an in depth update, but 2013 ended up pretty close to 2012, but I thought it was actually better because my results were more consistent.

    Specs for standard trading computer

Search on ebay for a refurbished trading computer. I just bought one for 600 bucks, with good multi-monitor video cards. You don't require much horsepower for what you are doing. Save your money for the learning curve.

Anybody on the Zone diet, and taking huge doses of fish oil?

I have a Vitamix and it works extremely well. Blends anything I've tried so far, no problems. And it blends stuff that a regular blender couldn't mix well enough and you would get separation after pouring. Like solid coconut oil and frozen fruits. Pricey, but it's basically a commercial...

Anybody on the Zone diet, and taking huge doses of fish oil?

Back to the original question, fish oil. I take a lot of it. I shoot for about 10-15 pills a day (.9mg pills). I do it to help control inflammation associated with regular athletic training. I was taking it anyway, but when I read about how much high level weightlifters were taking (50 or...

Grinding it out, day after day

I'm generally not a fan of doing that. If it's a valid trade setup, you should take it. Unless your losses from earlier in the day have mentally tweaked you to the point that you can't make good decisions anymore, then you should take the rest of the day off. If you are hitting a daily loss...

    Back after several years...

I remember Steve and his posts, he was legit. You can tell the real traders from the flakes pretty easily. Why not just get back into trading if that's what you really love? Sure, things have changed. But the guys who were good 5 years ago are still good and still making coin.

Hitman - Best ET Journal of All Time!

It was a great journal. Like a trading soap opera, worth coming here each day to read. Would be a really interesting follow up to see where he's at now.

What is the best place for after hours quotes?

IB's data is $10 a month if you don't do any trading. You're seriously calling yourself a trader and not willing to pay 10 bucks for quotes? Good luck...

Grinding it out, day after day

For the sake of consistency, here is a wrap up of my year. I ended up grossing $361,000 on 11.2 million shares traded. This would make my net somewhere around $325k. The year was downright discouraging for the first half. I was making money regularly, just not enough. I kept grinding away...

Do You Have To Be Somewhat of a Sociopath To Trade?

Good traders can be totally regular people. They're just able to act rationally and separate their emotions from monetary decisions. You don't have to be a sociopath to do that.
