I guess I have a completely different perspective regarding clinical psy. If he did not get good help, then he did not take a suitable one. I'd encourage him to keep looking for one that can help him, if he wants to get rid of the problem.

seriously if he can, a very good clinic psy , would sorte the problem :) He was not born with this emotional conditioning and pattern of behavior. He learned it, so can unlearn it.
