A scary equity curve - what should I do now?

So would you buy now, or wait for the retracement?

If you're still in this trade, that's a great call on the stop price

This latest 100 pip move seems a little excessive for a mere hint that interest rates may increase in the future, particualrly when my understanding was that the RBNZ intended to keep the OCR at around 7.25% well into next year anyway. I'll short when the buying relaxes a little further, over...

    Aud/usd

I can kinda see some basis for a support at around .7475, but in any case I think the trade has a lot of potential as a bounce after that overly dramatic drop from .7700, corresponding to the drop in gold. Although that is something that puzzles me a little, as gold is certainly big in...

My First Trade! - STP - Advice?

As this is your first trade it may affect your mindset for quite some time, so you really should make sure that you stick with what ever trading system you have developed. Before you entered the trade you must have had some sort of plan of when to get out, whether at a profit or loss. What...

    Aud/usd

It's an interesting situation with both gold and USD rising at the same time. Although at the moment obviously EUR/USD is having a greater effect than gold.

Report: Markets 'Are Like 1987 Crash'

I think this is a great point. The speculation in housing being being directly linked to industry means a burst in the bubble will produce a big cascade.

Venezuelans Pay 12 CENTS PER GALLON for Gasoline

Sure, I can see where you coming from, however diesel engines are at most only 30% more efficient than gasoline cars, and less than half of the oil consumed by the US is used for gasoline, so the total world comsumption savings would be at most 6% (if all 140 million cars in the US became more...

Venezuelans Pay 12 CENTS PER GALLON for Gasoline

Surely this would only slightly decrease the price of crude oil, as total demand decreases. The proportion of the diesel component of crude oil doesn't get any greater with increased demand, so the cost of diesel would still increase.

Venezuelans Pay 12 CENTS PER GALLON for Gasoline

I don't quite follow your reasoning. Why would an increase in consumption of diesel cause the price of it to drop?

    Nzd/usd - Aud/nzd

I guess from an economics perspective, they're only concerned with the long term "stability". The combined Aussie/NZ currency idea has been bandied about for so long and yet it never seems to be taken seriously. Although, since floating the dollar the kiwi has starting swinging back and...

Thought you guys might be interested in this. It's a little light on the details, so I may track down the actual study: Kiwi dollar the most unstable - study 02 May 2006 Most exporters know that grappling with the volatility of the floating New Zealand dollar is a nightmare for their...

    Aud/usd

I agree that most of the time any apparent correlation is no use at all. But if someone were looking at a chart of AUD/USD and saw a spike upwards, it would be mistaken to immediately come to the conclusion that suddenly everyone wants a piece of the aussie when the same spike has occurred in...

    Aud/usd

I don't think the latest uptrend on the AUD is particularly meaningful. The perfect correlation with EUR/USD show's it's essentially a drop in the USD than a increase in the AUD.

The great thing about the rising kiwi is that it has further to fall. Looks like this latest move is the one you were waiting for. I just shorted at 0.6140, initial tp at 0.6030

    Physical Delivery of Gold

I think that was his point. As the US dollar decreases in value, the cost of gold in US dollars should increase.

    Eur/USD

I'd be very surprised if retail traders had any effect at all, let alone upset the entire market.
