    Price Manipulation

interesting, i didn't know that, thanks axe. i assumed with a limit order, you could trade at any level. i do see plenty of trades outside the spread on thinner globex contracts, but it must be that my bid/ask in TS isn't updating fast enough.

    Price Manipulation

I do look at market depth. In the market at any time there are buyers on one side and sellers on the other, and when they agree on a price, there is a trade. When there are no trades, there is no agreement, so in that sense, at any point in time, there are not always both buyers and sellers at...

    Price Manipulation

This might be a naive question, and forgive me if it is. Has anyone ever made a trade in ES outside the spread in order to bump the price down to or up to a critical level or initiate a run in the pre/post market? For example, right now at 8:23 EST, ES is trading at 974.00, spreading...

    I realized something................

IMHO, nobody is more or less legit than anybody else, unless they're making more from their trading -- whether that's on a wall st floor, prop shop, or OTB. Don't be fooled by all the bling on JPs floor, wall st shops are white collar sweat shops from my experience and that of many friends and...

    Continuous Futures Prices

I know in TS, the continuous contract symbols for the financial futures are "@ES" or "@YM", but this syntax doesn't seem to work on YG.

    Gold and Silver mini

Guys, question regarding YG (mini gold). I searched the CBOT site and couldn't find info on the dollar value per tick/per point on YG. Is it $100 per point, $10 per .10 tick? thanks

Secondary Income or other sources of income

i've found freelance work makes a good balance, especially because of the flexibility in the amount of work you do and when you do it.

    Who makes the best traders?

i agree bc1, i have this feeling that my girlfriend would make an outstanding trader, but i can't get her interest past a certain point. she is much more rational in many ways.

Why did you lie about Johnny, tntneo???

is bearing all a requirement to participate in this community? i wasn't aware. the last thing i'm going to do here is give my best ideas away in public -- but i give back what i can, when i can, usually via pm. my last contribution was the 'visually impaired trader' thread. there's nothing...

Why did you lie about Johnny, tntneo???

yeh, seriously. as i see it there are two types on ET, those who can share ideas without insulting anybody, and those who can't. (and i had nothing to do with this fiasco). I'm sick of wading through this kind of bs. this board is about trading, not stupid vendettas. yahoo is waiting...

    Who makes the best traders?

there are plenty of back doors into the bulge bracket system if you don't have ivy credentials. either know someone and be reasonably intelligent or a bombshell chick, or work your way onto the floor in an IT job (where the bar is a bit lower), and work hard to make friends, and wedge your way...

Daytrading Rangebound Days in the ES

y, imho, finer resolution is preferred if yr looking for a specific number like POC. But, if my tick data is dirty i suppose it could throw off the number. also, if yr trying to use it realtime as opposed to EOD like i have been, chances are at least TS isn't going to run all that EL on...

Daytrading Rangebound Days in the ES

I just realized why our POC numbers are probably different. They will fluctuate based on the bar timeframe one uses. My 1009.75 is calculated from a one tick. Thanks very much for the great resources guys

Daytrading Rangebound Days in the ES

JT, Thanks for the great info, I've written my own TS indicator to calc POC, but my number doesnt match up precisely with 1010.75 that you're seeing for today (Tuesday). Is your POC based on 9:30-4:15 for September ES? I tried both sessions, and am getting 1009.75. Thanks, Sean

Why Degrees Don't Matter in the Market!

y, having a degree (and the industry experience that it enabled) has certainly helped... if not my acumen, then at least my confidence. phreedom phighter types are the other end of the spectrum tho.

    Tradestation ES data

I watched it last night during slow action, and noticed a definite increase in speed, though ticks were still lagging IB, albeit by a much smaller fraction than before. I'm not sure if this is simply due to the size of TS and the fact that it is running charts, or possibly also the marginal 242...

    Favorite "bad day trading song"...

i don't have a losing day song, but on many good days i play dub music (instrumental experimental reggae with some mc'ing). it's my soundtrack to paradise.
