    The NSA is watching YOU!

You sir, are a communist. Please don't presume to know what is best for me. I will (and have) gladly pay for my own health insurance. I don't need anyone telling me which doctor, and when, I can see. And as far as the police and fire departments go, they are funded by local taxes and are far...

Are the phone companies leaving themselves up to Billions in legal liabilities by giv

The lawsuits will probably come to naught. According to the NBC nightly news the Supreme Court held, back in the 70's, that the public knows that the phone companies keep records of phone calls and as such this is not regarded as confidential information. The government claims that personal...

    Esignal outage

FWIW: I am a former esignal user. As of the last Fed meeting announcement of 2005 when the usual data failure associated with fast markets occurred I switched to CQG. On this particular occasion esignal was 2+ minutes behind the market. I know this because I was using Ffastfill as a frontend...

    Sugar Cane Fuel Production...

Canyonman00, far be it from me to rain on your parade. If you think there is an opportunity here, by all means go for it. I am a little dubious about your numbers so far though. You claim farmable land with water rights for $25/acre? If this is true it is the deal of a lifetime just for...

    Money can't buy happiness

The presence or absence of money has no correlation to happiness if happiness is defined as contentment with ones self and place in life. Giving money to an unhappy person will make them "happy" for however long it takes for the distraction of whatever the money is doing for them lasts. It is...

    On gold and dollar

I second the motion. It seems Ron Paul is the only member of Congress with the balls to stand up and say no. More from a like-minded thinker: http://www.mises.org/story/1971

Significant Reduction in Petroleum / Gasoline Prices, HOW?

imo it is the central bankers of the world that are creating the endless supply of credit that is fueling speculation in many areas. Futures contracts aren't really credit instruments, they are simply vehicles to assume risk. Someone has to take the other side of the trade. A lot of that...

Significant Reduction in Petroleum / Gasoline Prices, HOW?

I wonder if those simpletons that are saying that we should be paying what the Europeans are for gas realize they are advocating a tax increase on fuel. Oil cost what oil costs and the expense of transforming it into products is not that much different anywhere on the planet. The reason fuel...

    The Coming Oil Crisis

To get back to the original post in this thread, the author states that "this time it is different". In my view he is correct in his premise that history is repeating itself....an unwinnable war,etc...., but the underlying problem is still political. The price shock in oil back in the the...

If Global warming was a fact, what would be the economic and political ramifications?

This statement is true, but not for the commonly accepted reasons. From a geologic perspective the earth is thought to have been on average some two degrees Centigrade warmer over the last 500 million years than it currently is. (3.6 degrees F). This is based on the physical evidence of the...

More Americans are losing their homes

This begs the question: Where will it all end? The political/banking class seem to have it figured this way as well. "Since our growth is based on consumption and the world seems at this point willing to finance our consumption(growth) by not wanting to miss out on the 'strongest' economy on...

More Americans are losing their homes

Exactly right hydroblunt. I lived in Grand Junction CO in the 80's and when the oil shale boom went bust there were cases of new low income housing selling for 25 cents on the dollar after forclosure. Great investment opportunity if one had the money and could afford to sit on them for a while.

bronks I'm a little late here but colorgraphic has an excellent multimonitor card. One card for up to 8 monitors. I've had one for going on four years now. I did have one problem a while back where one output out of four quit, but one of my monitors died at the same time so I don't know if...

    Proposed Iranian oil Bourse

Dcraig You point is excellent as is the article from the Asia Times. The authors assertion that the Iran oil bourse being a non starter with respect to the strength of the dollar is debatable though. He claims that the dollar was revived in the Arab oil embargo by the price shock of a...

    Proposed Iranian oil Bourse

Decessus The dollar hasn't been exchangeable for anything since Nixon took us of of the gold standard. Eurodollars is a euphamism for any money (US dollars) held outside of the US. What we have now is fiat currency. Simply put, our money is the full faith and credit of the government. If...
