report after report, I see huge US treasury bond holdings in the Caribbean. http://www.treas.gov/tic/mfh.txt Who is it? Is it the fed in disguise? Is it SPV's of the major ibanks? We all know it's not dreadlocked Caribbean coconut rum drinking homies in flip flops buying these....

Looks like you're 3 pennies in the black this morning... What made you think spreads would widen? mild October? Harsh November? Just shitty prices in general as injection season ends and everyone's already loaded up on cheap gas? Just trying to learn...

^ yes, he is. Someone edited Wikipedia for him: When Enron collapsed in 2002, he [John Arnold] founded Centaurus with his previous year's bonus. His company now has as much as $3 billion in assets under management.[2] His employees include several big name energy traders including ex-Enron...

$5 homes for Katrina "victims" courtesy of the US taxpaer

I wonder when he'll announce all the free money and housing for the 2008 Iowa flood victims. I think it was 2x as bad as the NO flooding. Oh wait, that's racist, sorry... http://www.iowaflood.com/

So it looks like the spread widened half a penny from what I wrote up, but narrowed half a penny relative to when Papa Roach put his position on. (not pointing at anyone’s MtM here, just typing it out because I want to understand)

"out of pocket" was an unfortunate choice of phrases. That's the cost of the spread. Given the availability of margin he'd be literally "out of pocket" only a precentage of that. I guess if you do it with a swap (not futures) you can avoid the up front margin. I didn't know swaps were...

Just to be sure I know what you're talking about: -v/+x means you're selling October (4.629) and buying November (5.254)? You're .625/MMBTu (or $6250) out of pocket for every pair of contracts you have on. So you're anticipating that the v/x spread will widen as we get closer??? Otherwise...

    Why GM DOESN'T matter

I'm surprised that no-one is mad about this. Obama is throwing away another $50 -$60billion. Remember how mad everyone was about govt. procured $500 toilet seats and $700 hammers? Where is those peoples' anger now????? hypocrites or retards, I guess.

Are people getting away with not paying their mortgages for months? years?

intersting... I have a very small mortgage (made a large down payment and have been sending double payments every month). I'm one of the losers that bought a house I can afford on a conventional mortgage. Still, it'd be neat to get a 30-40k principal reduction though, to offset my MtM...

Are people getting away with not paying their mortgages for months? years?

I wonder if I could call my mortgage servicer and ask who owns my loan. If they don't know, can they legally evict me? I know they can start the process, but in court, if the actual owner of my mortgage cannot be identified, how can I be evicted to satisfy an obligation to an unknown party...

Treasury Yield Curve Steepens to Record as Debt Sales Surge

If by "over time" you mean in like an hour, then yes, that's what they've been doing. All the support the fed has extended? they don't even bother printing anything. they just make an entry in a computer and suddenly AIG has a $200b "loan" and the FED has a $200b "receivable" that they can just...

Treasury Yield Curve Steepens to Record as Debt Sales Surge

I think Denninger has it right. He's a mite theatrical about it, and I don't believe the "collapse of everything" is as near as he thinks, but principally he is correct (in my opinion). QE is a not even a band-aid. Trying to think of a suitable analogy here... it's more like a bastardized short...
