If you want to fail as a trader, study TA

Prof. I've isolated part of the problem with those boredom trades- it's possibly not good to have a Market order tee'd up and ready to go with the mouse cursor hovering over the execute button constantly, since my index finger has a tendancy to act independantly to my brain... LOL

But yeah it requires practice, patients and effort, this is where most people slip up, they come in as newbies thinking they're gonna make a million in a month without putting in the effort to learn the craft of trading First and when it doesn't happen they start slagging off the very...

I'll add as a caveat that it works even better when you're early in a trend, the higher tf, momentum and price action are lining up in the direction of your trade and you're not buying into resistance or selling into support clusters (both flat & dynamic) which brings us on to MAs if you deny...

why is the first circle in the lower range low risk? It's a first test of a level that doesn't yet exist as price reaction point resistance, unless it was a previous level or a pivot or fib level. Also you could use a very simple volume technique to spot the likelihood of the broken levels...

Well to be fair Mac you'd stand a better chance of spotting Ex-Con (expansion, contraction) volatility range on a squashed chart than on a spread sheet. Like I said it's down to preference, personally I don't look at anything smaller than 5 mins, too much noise on the ones & twos IMO...

I don't know why you two are banging on about charts, a chart is just a graphic depiction of numerical data, a visual aid to analysis. How you set them up is down to your personal preference but the numbers are the same.

Well it wasn't surfing porn... Something to do with maths I guess, since he was one of the greatest mathematicians of the middle ages. Self fulfilling prophecy? who cares it's worth keeping an eye on those levels.

Certainly a psychological bug bear. I can't remember who said it but I quote, "Overtrading is one of the biggest challenges to traders. The hallmark of the successful professional is that they actually trade very little. They wait for the PERFECT set-ups because they know that is the ONLY...

I assume the Prof is recommending a fixed method or system of analysis. When I wait for my regular set ups I tend to do well, whereas if I start taking trades (usually out of boredom) based on other analysis methods (you could say randomly) I tend to not do so well.

Re. horizontal lines, I'd hazard they're just plain and simple consolidation ranges. Actually this thread is getting pretty big now, including the original thread at the site TE doesn't like to mention. It would be nice to get down to some substance for once. Good to hear from you...

"thruppenny bits" isn't that Cockney rhyming slang? Half a crown and two 'n' six, showing your age there Mysteron. DT it's definitely part of a program, most of the pages and charts look like presentation slides. Only half way through it, should be able to discuss it better post weekend...

I agree with the both of you wholeheartedly, and what I do know is that so far today all of the reaction levels I predicted using TA are getting reactions. The proof is in the pudding.

Comment re. TA TA has many limitations, it will get trumped by high volatility, news events, cat's jumping onto keyboards and selling a billion PG (or shall we just refer to it as the event) etc. etc. It is the responsibility of any practitioner to be fully aware of these limitations and...
