IB market making in options - Conflict of interest possible?

yes. thanks for the responses. Does it makes sense that a "large trader" designation would change your fees to Professional and you would lose your customer priority? I will have to review the email I got from IB but from what I recall I was designated a large trader - I don't recall the 390...

IB market making in options - Conflict of interest possible?

I don't remember exactly what the number is but I recall $20-25 million worth of trades in one day? or something like this . maybe a month threshold thing as well. you are deemed a "large trader" and have to file as such with the SEC (pain in the ass)

IB market making in options - Conflict of interest possible?

I've traded with IB for about 20 years as a customer and last year I hit a threshold in terms of dollar value trading that makes me a professional customer. As a result I pay higher exchange fees and have no customer priority. Just this past week I asked IB if I could post two sided markets...

    Single stock inverse ETF

The key here is the htb names. Time for OneChicago to step up - quote these issues and see the volumes go up. Time to fight the establishment and their insane borrow rates and lack of lending ability It is there for the taking! best

IB - Futures price capping, denied ability to trade

yes. that sums it up. I honestly believe that if you went to the appropriate regulator and showed them what IB was doing then they would be in some trouble. It isn't enough that you demand your fill as the price discovery model of the markets is altered when orders are changed. As in the...

IB - Futures price capping, denied ability to trade

it just cost me a few grand - on the CHF futures. tried to sell on the reopening of Globex at 1.1750 (my limit order) and they wouldn't let me enter the order (opened at 1.1775 ish) - CHF CASH was lower. I still sold some as I got a few fills at 6:00:01 (EST) as my order goes in once it opens...

IB - Futures price capping, denied ability to trade

I missed a fill today because of the caps. I have escalated the issue and hope that IB will re-evaluate what they are doing. I have also shown them about 10 crazy examples of the price capping over the last couple of months but at this point nothing has changed. I'm not here to bad mouth IB...

    *New* Weekly SIngle Stock Futures

the hard to borrow names is the real value here (not efp's and interest rates). Anyone who is long term bullish a hard to borrow name (like GPRO) should be able to buy the SSF's at a nice discount. Why would you buy the equity? It is equivalent to buying the stock and lending your shares...

IB - Futures price capping, denied ability to trade

Actually shocked that this hasn't been all over this forum. The price capping is insane. The equity options market may be the worst of all markets. I recently was trying to offer some out of the money calls that expired in a day or two and the market was zero bid .15 ask. There was a few...

July VIX futures @ 5.40 - Have nice weekend

Some clarity on what I saw: 1) It wasn't just the VIX futures that were quoted at $5 ish. There were many single stock futures and other futures contracts as well. 2) I informed IB and they did a reset to the previous closing prices around 3 PM EST Typical American attitude - why does...

How to Hedge DB's rights offering?

DB will be issuing more stock via a rights offering. The price isn't determined yet but it looks like the market is suggesting the equity will drop about $2.50 when the rights go ex. Any idea if there is a derivative product I can use to hedge this?

    SSF discount

This exchange has a product that could take off if they were to market it properly. Just take a look at all the people who are bullish in todays market and love some of these hard to borrow names. They are offered at discounts in the SSF market or would constantly trade at these discounts via...

PUT options liquidated at worst possible prices

I stand corrected. If that truly was his position then yes - there should be no margin call. A Portfolio Margin account would not allow for a liquidation. Being long two put spreads with cash in the account should leave him with ZERO chance of liquidation. It is my understanding that even...

PUT options liquidated at worst possible prices

I have not read this entire thread but I did see the executions that were posted and it tells me there was definitely something else going on in this account. Take note that IB liquidated the long SPY puts at 14:51 and then bought the short puts back at 14:54 and 14:59. That tells me that he...

If you like YRCW long term....

It doesn't mean that I think it is going up - simply that if "YOU" believe it is then you can buy the stock cheaper using SSF's. For those who want to short the stock, can't because the stock is hard to borrow thus they are willing to short it using SSF's at a discount to the equity price.
