    Nooby McNoob becomes a quant

That’s wishful thinking. Honestly though, it becomes a giant leap of faith in your broker. All exits should rest on their infrastructure, and always have a source of mobile/remote access if unattended. Don’t even think about resting them on your alley mechanic brainchild :)

    Profile of an average trader

Not true at all. Plenty of self-made millionaires read here and other forums. One of the top 30, by volume, intraday ES traders actively posted, until he recently got fed up with the clowns and stopped.

    Alternatives to IB?

That’s the last feature I’d look for in a broker. Third party, and customized solutions are best for testing.

Price driven charts - Do you adjust settings based on changes in volatility?

The chart/volatility study itself remains constant. If tweaked after the data printed, you’re curve fitting. Only reason to tweak it would be for learning, research, and development of a trade plan. It’s monthly value does change, and this gets refactored into my quant model when trading same...

Price driven charts - Do you adjust settings based on changes in volatility?

    Nooby McNoob becomes a quant

@sle gave you some good advice in that thread, especially in regards to establishing an intimate connection to your front end. Trading off that intimacy for efficiency gains, just isn’t worth the headaches in most cases.

    Nooby McNoob becomes a quant

Looks likes you’re on top of it. The list of failsafes gets longer and longer as you trial and error your way through it. Have you considered any off the shelf solutions? Might help fix many of your issues, and allow you to focus on the stats and competitive advantage.
