    The Daytrader Stigma

dark: Do you do any writing? You appear to be well spoken. Re: Jealousy Yeah, just watch a person's body language. It speaks volumes, and in some folks you can almost read the disdain for ones accomplishments. Sincerity, a rare quality. Gordo

    The Daytrader Stigma

daniel_m; That sounds like a good strategy, a basically how I do it. It often seems better to limit info to lay folks.

    The Daytrader Stigma

Been interested in markets since a very young age. Read many books, papers, etc. Bought first stock (Orion Pictures) on a "tip", lost it all ($600.00) during their chap 11 filing. Eventually went on to get a BA in finance, with intention of going into IB M&A, etc. Junior/senior year of...

    Appian Video Card

which appian card does a guy want? Not real up on these. Looked on ebay and it looks like there are a couple different ones. Some of the prices seem pretty cheap (under $50). Is there a specific one that is more desirable for trading applications? Thanks, Gordo

    Mutual Funds Cash Reserves

How far back do you need it? It is listed in the market (Big Picture) section of Investors Daily. Sometimes they run a historical chart, but often times they will post a few numbers. Otherwise, you may be able to find the info in either a)Bloomberg, b) Dailycharts.com or c)Yahoo finance. HTH...

    Prop trading in Minnesota?

NDX, doesn't do prop trading, at least that's what I am told. Their ads look like they are retail shop. Look at the brokers section, call them to see if they have branches, ETG was trying to start something, but haven't heard about them lately. Good Luck.

Futures Magazine vs. Technical Analysis of S&C

Tony01: what is it that you like about SFO? My subscription started about two monthes ago, and I haven't really spent any time with it. One of the issues looked like it had a decent overview of technical patterns - sort of a reference piece.

    hedge fund idea

Vladiator and Aaron: Thank you both for your replies, you have both shed a little light on the subject for me. Since my immediate interest is in pursuing prop trading, I have not kept up this aspect of our profession. Thanks again, and good trading.

    hedge fund idea

Vladiator: This will betray my ignorance on the subject, but what are subtle differences b/t hedge & LLC? Is there a structure that will allow you greater access to capital (IE - non qualified investors, etc?) , what are the benefits of one over the other? Thanks,

Futures Magazine vs. Technical Analysis of S&C

switched over to active trader myself. Seems like it's a more complete publication than TASC, format seems to be more user friendly (easier to read - TASC has been almost academic at times). Found useful info in both. But, with Active Trader, I can flip through and get an idea of what may be...

    McClellan Oscillator

If you have access to Metastock, they either have it as an option, or you can build it. Please excuse my vagueness, it has been awhile since I have used mine, just remember that I had it loaded. Their tech support should be helpful if that helps.

    Moving Satellite Internet connection?

Cash: There is a thread that we had going about a week ago. Think that a couple of posters suggested a system by a company KVH. Sounded like a good option, but maybe rather costly. Be great if we could find a good affordable source. Name of the thread was something like "Mobile...
