I don't recall seeing or hearing about Z losing track of T in the police account of the event. The thing that really bothers me is just that he could have, and should have, just stayed in the truck as advised. The cops were on the way. Not much question that Z initiated the contact by following T.

Right or wrong, I doubt this can pass now due to the current Zimmerman case. Too much negative press and too much research into the whole concept I think.
