FS: Multicharts - testing the waters

This is great charting software, but my biz partner decided to use a custom-built execution solution. It's the latest version 5, and I have never used the registration key. Send me a PM and maybe we can work something out.

Trader Looking for Mentor, willing to sign a deal to pay % of winnings

man, I think trading is tough, but this board is tougher.... But frankly few successful traders are going to take on a student, unless the trader is retiring and want to pass on the torch. Even fewer are going to show them their tax returns. Even less if there's less than $10m in capital to...

I sometimes see these problems if I don't have the correct foreign language pack loaded into Windows. But then all my programs would have problems, not just Multicharts

Thanks, Andrew! I guess lifetime means lifetime support, not a lifetime of free upgrades (if that was the case, there will be nobody left to buy MC if everyone has a copy already). I bought a copy of 5.0 Gold, and it's working nicely. I hope you will offer discounted upgrade offers to 6.0...

A lifetime license means lifetime, right? Does that mean that if I bought MS 2.0, I would have a free upgrade to MS 5.0 (including 4.0 gold and 5.0 gold)? thanks!

    Make a living trading FOREX?

There are a lot of good opinions about FX trading here. Some like myself urge caution, and there are others who say it's a walk in the park. The harsh reality is that FX brokers need a fresh batch of new traders to replace the ones that lose everything. Without new traders - who think they...

    Make a living trading FOREX?

Self confidence is vital in any type of trading. But make no mistake, this is a war. You need to be physically, mentally, and spiritually prepared. You also need to get the best tools, technology, and know-how you can afford. I would not discourage anyone from Forex trading, but I have the...

    Make a living trading FOREX?

I can't add much here because many good people have posted valid advice. What I can say is I have a friend who used to work at a large (300+ employee) online forex firm, and he says that nearly 100% lose their capital within 6 months. Back to the guy with the idea that Forex trading is a...

    Any experience with Abletrend?

that's a good point. the program gives you several proprietary indicators which you can use to determine if there is a trading opportunity. A skilled person might be able to use their mental abilities to decide whether or not to take a trade. But if this is the case, it's not a "fully...

    Seriously thinking turning Fulltime trader

this is excellent advice! I felt pressured because I lost some $, so I doubled up. You know what happens then... The less you feel pressured to make $ to support the family, the better. You end up taking small profits when they are offered to you, but not small losses - only big ones. yes...

    Looking for a programmer

ah, sorry I could not be of more help. programmers who know real time trading are either paid big$, or they apply their skills to their own trading. I would also consider programmers from other fields like physics or real time signal processing. They know what to do with real time data...

    Any experience with Abletrend?

I paid for 1 month trial of real time ablesys. I think it's not worth it. Their entry rules are so subjective, the program doesn't tell you want the entry points are. Inter-day might be different. It's basically a trend following system with money management stops.

This would not be a prop firm, but is it a good idea?

sounds like a good idea, but one of the problems is turnover. most traders will lose money, and when they are out, they will not come back. so you open shop in a large metro area. but then you will compete with prop shops. The one good idea was to allow your customers to trade FX. FX...

    Seriously thinking turning Fulltime trader

I just made the transition from full time employee to full time trader. I was not fully prepared, and I paid the price. Trading is a business, and you should treat it as a business. You must have a disciplined strategy or trade setup, and rules. Most businesses lose money starting out...

    Best Prop Firms in NYC?

there are tons of prop shops, and each one will give you a different deal. in the past, some will claim 20% of your winnings as their cut, and 0% of your losses. my current firm pays out 100%, after market data and commissions.

    IB (IBKR) IPO auction

There is only 20 million shares available to the general public. That is very very small, and can lead to rapid price appreciation - as you know, supply and demand. Look at the float of their competitors: Ameritrade 482.56million Etrade 421.7m Knight securities 98.8 AG Edwards 74.3m...

    IB (IBKR) IPO auction

Remember, the shareholders only receive 5% of the company. That's 5% of any earnings. They have to earn a lot to make your share valuable. If you were to account for the minority interest (see page 15 of prospectus), you will see that if you were one of the lucky 5%, you would have earned...
