Can't wait for $10 / gallon gas - now my commute to work will take 1/2 the time - everyone will be taking mass transit But yes - $10 gallon gas will kill the economy because transportation / shipping costs are built into almost every good - be prepared for price spikes across the board

All indicators are a derivative of price, yes. And so then you jump to the conclusion that the derivative therefore must be less useful than price action itself Consider the concept of 'NOISE' in a data series - which an indicator can help filter out

Traders make pennies, Investors make dollars

The bottom line is, a good trader will always make more money than a good investor. Of course if you don't know what you're doing - it's better to be a dumb investor than a dumb trader

    Is Yahoo done deal?

You cannot claim 'limited risk' - sure if merger goes thru, you only lose ~$5 and if merger fails, you'll reap +$10 points But how do you assign PROBABILITIES to each situation? So you're telling me you can get into the head of Yang and Balmer and predict how the negotiation will turn out...

Shorting Ford and First Solar F and FSLR

First off - insider buying and selling should NOT be used for short-term timing purposes It has some value if you are trading for longer-term periods (i.e. 3 mo - 6 mo out) But remember TMA (Thornburg Mortgage) - insiders were buying and the stock collapsed

Shorting Ford and First Solar F and FSLR

Remember your formula for stock valuation stock price = (div0)(1+g)/(r-g) g = growth and so far they have been growing like crazy Until growth slows, market is gonna keep that a high multiple
