Turn the brightness down. I had to do that with all my Dell lcd's. I also have a black & white high contrast theme in XP. The background being black. Also, I find these great for lcd's: http://cms.3m.com/cms/US/en/2-22/FiiliFO/view.jhtml#executive

    My next motherboard

I would index the table according to symbol id, then timestamp. Makes insertions slower, but makes retrieval *much* faster. Also, I believe indexing affects how the data is stored to disk. Could be wrong, tho.

    My next motherboard

nitro, the relational way: A table full of symbols and their id's. A table full of "ticks", e.g. price and timestamp. Each row is marked by the id of the corresponding symbol. Personally, I would append a "tick" to the end of a file. One file per symbol. For storing a lot of data...

    Dell 24" wide screen

It can give you a lot of little charts, but if you want big charts, I just use a 2001FP in a vertical orientation.

    Automated trading & IB

maxwell_c, You can trade automatically in esignal script, using either a broker plugin, or a third party intermediary, like Dynaorder. Be mindful, though, as efs needs a lot of cpu on active contracts.

Ensign why do some pro's like it?

Oh, great site. I guess what I'm wondering is: can you see the individual trades on a chart along with the bid / ask?

    dax scalping

HSI strikes me as a kind of inverse to the ES. Whereas on ES, if there are two doji spikes forming a double top, chances are good you will see a further attempt to break through. HSI, on the other hand, will treat that as overhead resistance, and plummet (to put it mildly).

    Toughest trade in the world: S & P 500?

I think the Hang Seng is one of the toughest to trade. Paradoxically, the ES is more my style (low index value), but I can't trade it during working hours anymore. It was tough at first, but now I have a hard time adjusting to after-hours futures with higher ATR (e.g. HSI, DAX).

    Should I trade the Nikkei?

How about the Hang Seng? Big range, stops are problematic. Liquid for small number of contracts. High margin reqs., though IB is the best in this regard.
