    ES Journal - 2023/2024

seems like a swing trader's market to me. also a few megacaps along with qqq took out opening range lows, and are now reversing. I don't like to buy into conspiracies, but it seems like the algos like to shake people out at the beginning of the move and then not give them a good chance to enter...

why do most prop firms focus on intraday trading?

They actually have pretty detailed breakdowns on YouTube, alongside their sales pitches.

why do most prop firms focus on intraday trading?

    I'm actually channeling you.

why do most prop firms focus on intraday trading?

sorry, I thought this was popular.

why do most prop firms focus on intraday trading?

yep these guys do have 7-8 figure traders, supposedly, but they also do a lot of this.. (see replies) i listened to their webinar. it's basically a 2h sales pitch to their education.

why do most prop firms focus on intraday trading?

THEY HAVE NO IDEA. NO IDEA. NONE

possibly, but I'm not so concerned about the news and instead focus on the PA. I keep that stuff in the back of my head, but it's all BS to me because I have no information edge and certainly can't outsmart teams of Ivy league big brains on wall st.

well you would think that with all those things I listed (poor breadth, bad news, etc), there would be more follow through to the sell side, and vix would be jacked up. but neither is true. so when what should happen doesn't, the opposite might be true. so I think edge is to the upside. then...

    Is ES rigged?

where did you find this post? I'm intrigued.

Dips being bought in the midst of horrible news cycle, weak nyse breadth, and bearish positioning/sentiment at the highs is a big clue imo.

why do most prop firms focus on intraday trading?

I can see the desk/commission fees being a source of revenue, though idk how much commissions really are these days for those guys Can also see more frequency and round trips leading to more practice and sorting through the herd more quickly for top talent.

why do most prop firms focus on intraday trading?

afaik, most prop firms focus on intraday price action. But the most legendary traders that I know of are swing/position traders, because you can capture much bigger moves than the average daily ranges (even with catalyst), and you're not getting chopped up by noisy algo driven intraday price...

I agree, there is no substitute for screen time and experience. I'll listen to a 30 year veteran floor trader before I'll ever listen to some new guy who has 1000 hours of back testing. But if I were to do it over knowing what I know now, I'd have tried much harder to become a coder. I did java...

at this point, it feels like I'm all out of excuses to not get into coding and machine learning. is python a good place to start?

price/time as in market profile? are you using algo to assist you, or doing it yourself? I agree the bottoming formation was likely a bear trap the longer it took to fail to break down, but the prediction that we'd end the day above opening range intrigues me. Where did that come from?

    ES Journal - 2023/2024

I agree and I've seen others make similar observation, bearish sentiment is high. We've been bombarded by bad news, and yet there doesn't appear to be any panic, and indices closed strong after the whipsaw. 10y yields broke a major level today, and tlt closed above the 200d MA for the first...

how is crypto going to respond to the end of the QE era?

If he thinks usdt and binance collapses, we're very likely to see it back below 20k to fresh new lows

anybody else see the similarity between this and airlines getting bailed out in 2020? Both are low growth sectors with delicate balance sheets. weren't they also talking about nationalizing them too?
