What do 18 y.o. have to do with my thread? I'm talking about college educated, working professionals who set up an account at IB and get shafted on the margin requirements In order to make money selling options, you need to lever up. If you can't, what's the point?

How does having more stringent margin requirements equate to playing with adults? On the contrary, "adults" are interested in more leverage, not less.

Etrade hasn't blown up because of people who overmargin, so I don't see what IBKR would. Guess I'll have to go with Options House since they have more reasonable margin requirements.
