    Straddles or Strangles?????? -777

Dude, stay small until you're educated. Also, consider options on the SPY or QQQQ, to get a feel. You WILL lose money, but it will be money well spent, and part of your tuition. Also, instead of buying IV, consider selling it when it's huge. VIX was in the 48 range.

What happened to PPT today on biggest one day drop!?

LOL to the comments so far. I think the PPT LET the huge drop happen, because the ETer's were on to them. Had to do something to throw them off the scent.

Trading needs the same "revolution" that martial arts went through 15 years ago

That'll be good, but won't say much about the styles because Silva's just a FREAK.

TKD is very dangerous in a street fight...to the user. The LAST thing you want to do in a street fight is kick high. It's about as useful as ballet. Really. (I have what's known as bodan in TKD red/black belt). Great exercise though.

A Letter Against the Bailout Plan

What's kind of ironic about the risk to taxpayers of this $700b bailout. We keep hearing about the risk to taxpayers. Here's an example: If the fund spends $700B on these distressed assets yet eventually only only recoups $550B, there is a cost to taxpayers of $150B. So where did the...

Bail Out: Help me make sense please!!!!!!!!!!

ROFLMAO How about giving it to all those US citizens who are not repaying their mortgages? They have demonstrating a remarkable ability to control their finances. Btw, the plan is not giving away money, it's buying troubled assets which have a good chance of being profitable if held to...

TRADE ALERT - Buy RIMM Oct 2008 105.00 calls

This thread is a great example of how buying can be very risky. There's been thousands of pages spent on the dangers of selling. Yet if the OP had risked $10k by selling naked puts (would have been 1 contract), FF would have been down less than $300 vs the actual loss of $10k. It's not...

26 hours? I suggest you upgrade your '386-era computer. Upgrade to Windows 3.1 while you're at it.

TRADE ALERT - Buy RIMM Oct 2008 105.00 calls

Dude. Here's an epiphany: Our existence is based on 'gambling'. It's all ODDS. Much of our conscious brain function involves calculating risk. If you think trading is not gambling think again. So what if it had a binary outcome? Just a different r/r profile compared to the...

    700,000,000,000.00 !!!!!!!!!!!!

The number is not that large in relation to the US economy. If the plan isn't passed, the US economy will likely get quite a bit smaller.

breaking news-bailout plan falls apart !

If I was an American I'd be a Republican, but the GOP behavior today is just ridiculous. GET A CLUE! It's a representative republic not a true democracy. You do what's right, not necessarily what the majority wants. Those 9/10 constituents not in favour of the plan, somehow think that...

Safe way to sell put options?

Here's my take on selling naked: A man can drown in a pond that has an average depth of 1 foot.

Hi, explain to me how adding to a WINNING position is profitable?

You might benefit from a slightly different mindset. Don't worry about what you paid for something. If it's 105 and you think it's going higher then it doesn't matter that you paid 100 for it the first time. Buy more at 105! If its 90 and you think it's going lower, then sell it at 90...
