This days you really can get Windows 10 for example it's latest edition, it's really much better than Windows 7 for example already and for many many more other reasons I will not name here, all other upgrades depends on your mobo, memory type and SATA speed etc.

Why not just move to something like Windows 10 and use NVM'e or so, why do you still using software which is already like 10 years old or so, I think it could be some issue with that. Really I am on Windows 10 1903 and all runs damn fine with it.
