    Double minimum credit card paym'ts

Xcept for the fact that these poor blokes who are stretched as it is have already 2X less disposable income due to hiked gas prices and now 2Y due to doubling of the credit card repayment rates. Expect discretionary consumer spending by the lower segment of the population of the US to fall...

    Macro Shift

I can tell you what happens - I buy a real nice home in foreclosure & rent my current one out for the next 5-7 years until housing values start rising again.

    Unfeasibility of Rebuilding New Orleans

Time to reclaim the 'good name' of the republican party before this bloat. NO will be promised the world but will be a shade of its former glory. Most holdouts will leave for greener pastures after the reconstruction of the tourist district, and the realization that there are better places...

    Macro Shift

Put me in the 'me too' category. General public knows nothing about the new bankruptcy laws and hikes in cc minimums. Once they find out, there will be a big break in spending on consumer discretionals, which probably means a dismal christmas 2005 and worse 1Q 2006 for the retail sector.

The Capitalist system, it's flaws and possible solutions.

The American Institute for Economic Research recently put out a Bulletin on this subject written by Dr. Young Back Choi, professor of economics at Michigan State. The booklet is quite dense with information and I can't do it justice in one post, but let me quickly summarize: 1. From...

    LCD-Television suitable for trading?

You might want to do a web search on the 37" Westinghouse LCD which is a true 1080i monitor. On A/V forums people are talking about using it as a monitor, but reccomending being closer than 10 feet. Its one of the less expensive LCD's out there currently - about 1800ish.

Great Dance songs from the 80s-90s

The Village people reference will be, I'm afraid, lost on our friend littledick.(sp?) M E T A L R O O L Z !!!! I remember that braindead type back in junior high. It chiefly appealed to dorky 8th grade girls who hadn't quite filled out yet. Come to think of it, even when they were...

Great Dance songs from the 80s-90s

You were either part of it or you weren't... By the way, the thread is "Dance Songs". While I guess you can sort of dance to GnR, if you put it on as a DJ in a NYC, LA, or Chi-town nightclub, it would pretty much clear the floor. Trust me. Did something like it a few times myself.

    Middle class revolt

That's the key, and as long as things keep going the way they are for you, its fine and absolutely the best thing in the world. I applaud your self-restraint. I actually subscribe to the same school of thought. HOWEVER, if your cost of living increases to 40K through inflation and your...

    Middle class revolt

Agreed. While the myth of american success has certainly brought many immigrants to its shores - 'streets paved with gold', only to have its weaker groups end up in sweatshops and tenements, or worse, there has always been that 'dream'. The problem is that when the dream becomes only...

Was the FED right in raising rates ? that is the question

Stagflation... Well, that would certainly push the long end of the yield curve up! IMHO, the post tech bubble crash world from 2000-2003 was more risky that most of us thought. It took a lot of faith, credit, and low interest rates guide us through that spot. Combined with global...

    Middle class revolt

This is a fascinating discussion. I will add a few of my points. It’s almost a moot point that government jobs are expanding, and one of the best ways to profit is to serve the government with a contract, etc. Just look at the cost of living in northern Virginia feeder suburbs to DC as...

    North Korea's Nuclear Weapons

So, say what you want, but the neocons were "right" on this one. The funny part is that its probably the skyrocketing cost of oil that has shook out the north koreans most effectively - all these lovely war machines, and no gas to run them. Boo-Hoo. Go crunch on some US aid corn...

    Forbes $30-$35 Oil Price Prediction

I agree with you (for a change) o libertarian one. If oil prices are too high, it encourages alternative energies. Then there goes your products and your profits. That's a bad situation. Fuel cell tech is nice because you can sell it like you sold oil!!!! Out of a pump. Just a few...

    Writing options for a living

I'll bite on this - I apologize since I have read only 10% of this whole thread. If I make an arse of myself, well, just pm me and It'll be a good laugh. A similar question was posed to me a long time ago, which is the one-day option conundrum. Assume that there is one day left until...
