Here’s How Much Money You’ve Lost If You Took Matt Damon’s Crypto Advice One Year Ago

Your missing a joke. Billy Ray Valentine is the guy to listen to about crypto. He was an ex-commodity trader in the 1980’s. In one day he made so much money he essentially put a major brokerage firm out of business. I hear he started a crypto fund from his home in the Bahamas.

So yesterday I was long some puts in Boeing outright. The puts were losing money in the morning because the stock was up and the vol was in. All off a sudden the stock started selling off. The theta exploded so I lost a lot of money. I called my broker and as asked him why I was losing money. He...

Wow. This has to be a troll post. Nothing in this post makes ANY sense. The two people who agree with me are incredibly experienced. ETJ is too classy to get in the muck but I’m pretty sure she wouldn’t agree with any of your posts on this topic. How does a market maker push gamma to...

The #1 Skill In Selling Options

Reminds me of a story about a feud between jpmorgan and bear stearns. Jpmorgan delivers a letter of a collateral call to bear stearns at 4pm and is informed (in the lobby with hundreds of bankers walking in and out with their food delivery and Starbucks coffees) that the letter can’t be...

Pause Trading in December to clear wash sale?

Wash sales apply to all securities. you need to not trade 30 days before or after I think. Wash sales offset in the same underlying. They don’t offset across underlyings. so if you buy and sell and lose. Then buy and sell and win, the loss is offset against the win. If you buy and sell and...

I remember DNA being Genentech. That was a fun risk arb opportunity. Everyone on CNBC Fast Money became an expert on Cholorectal cancer over night.

    optimal point for profit taking

summing what your gamma/theta pnl should have been from inception to now. alternatively, how much of your pnl has come from vega/delta. If most of your pnl is vega/delta then you might want to cut. if it's inline with the gamma/theta then your thesis might still be intact.

You aren’t a noob. Same rules don’t apply to you. you are welcome to reiterate your points whenever you want. Or show those academic papers. Pretty much everyone else in this thread agrees with me (certainly those who have extensive experience trading options). Trolls call others “troll”

Daily returns or range for RV?

We use close to close mostly because it’s how most people trade. There are realized vol models that use high to low or open as part of their vol calculation. Garman klas is a famous one. you can use any calculation you want provided you can trade at that vol (ie replicate the option hedging...
