China Commerce Ministry: Trade Call This Morning Went Very Well

"Here fishy-fishy". Can Trump keep the markets up until the 2020 election with trade jawboning? So longs as the algos keep storming the market on his every word about trade, perhaps.

When do day traders pay the tax and how to do it ?

When the LLC pays you salary or pays you other taxable distributions... that's when you need be concerned about quarterly estimates. Ideally you would not take salary or any other distribution until year-end... then make your annual tax estimate by the 4th quarter tax date.

Lucky you. Makes all us Yanks wish we lived in the UK.

When do day traders pay the tax and how to do it ?

Regarding gains/losses in the LLC... those won't be reported until after year end. The LLC manager will not be paying quarterly estimates on behalf of the LLC. Each individual investor will pay his own after year end. No quarterly estimates unless there were taxable distributions during the...

Realistic returns expectations of successful day trading

Right. If you're a trader/investor, what really matters is the total return on your capital/net worth.

    Options vs. Futures, what's better?

I don't think there is anything "easy" about either of them.

Please help me fix my #1 trading problem - I keep getting messed up in chop

True that. Most of what one trader decries as "untradable chop" is mostly tradable by someone with better experience. I only see chop where the reversals are too fast, whippy and large to cope with for me.

Trump Made Up "High Level Phone Calls" With China To Boost Markets...

"...For now, Trump is enjoying an S&P that remains just a few percent below its all time highs. But what happens once algos realize that Trump will say any lie just to push risk assets higher? And is that why bond yields continue to grind to new all time lows, because while stocks may be fooled...

Realistic returns expectations of successful day trading

Realistic expectations.... Years ago I came across some research on 40,000 money managers. Bottom Line... <.1% had returns greater than 30%/year for 10 years, audited. (Returns for money managers today are MUCH lower than then.) As a day-trader, you have the opportunity to do better than...

Realistic returns expectations of successful day trading

Like I said. "Account size" isn't relevant (unless your capital is your trading account). The ONLY thing that matters in trading is the total return on your capital... that and capital preservation, of course.

Realistic returns expectations of successful day trading

Uh, no. What you have in your "trading account" is not relevant. What percentage of your CAPITAL account is what matters. Example.... If my "trading account" goes from $10K to $20K, I've added "100%". Whoopie! But if my CAPITAL is $100K, I've added only 10% to my capital. Nothing wrong...

Realistic returns expectations of successful day trading

True but that almost always goes with "size" to some degree. (Often when we say "point" we mean percent. But a 1/2 point slip in the ES is only .0166%. of the notional value.) That's what the DOM is revealing at this time. I've seen other times where there were >1000 bid/offered at each...

Realistic returns expectations of successful day trading

You can use whatever leverage you want up to the margin requirements of the contract. I mentioned "200 lots" as a size one could negotiate the bid/ask DOM with minimal slippage. You could do a 1000 lot trade ($150MM notional) right now with only about 1/2 point slippage on the entire trade.

Realistic returns expectations of successful day trading

You can day trade stock index futures. In the ES, you can trade 200 lots (~$30 MM value) with minimal slippage. Lots of room for day traders up to let's say, $100MM... and ET ain't in that league just yet. :)

Realistic returns expectations of successful day trading

There aren't any "$Billionaire day traders" for several reasons, not the least of which is that $1B is too much to logistically trade. With enough experience, the market will allow you to make a "good" return fairly easily. But if you want to make a BIG return, that's different. You have to...
