Your stop was at b/e, so trust your target. Great entry, great target (measured move), decent management I thought this was a great entry. You never know how strong a breakout will be, but the setup was solid. You were with the trend and price was close enough to the next R level to be...

Here are two very important things to consider and this helps keep me out of trades with lower probability of success. If I'm compelled for some reason to take trades under these conditions, at the very least these concepts ensure that I exit quickly if there's no quick follow-through in my...

Thanks for this! I posted it on my wall, because I still sometimes form opinions about "too high to buy" (though I did buy THE high tick yesterday in CL) and "too low to short" based on news reports being bullish or bearish.

Just got back in, Ammo, thanks for the chart re open interest. Blox, is your system totally automated or does it throw signals and you manage the trades? Deja, you shorted 3 ticks from a major pivot high and covered 5 ticks later? You covered before I even shorted and I bailed for a...

I've never watched TS, but have depth on my DOM and if anyone can see the Virgin Mary in a tortilla it would me and from what I've seen there's nothing there to be found that the price action itself isn't already showing you.

Do you consider money management an edge?

If you have a 50% win rate (no edge), but target twice the profit of your stop loss on each trade, how is that not a money management edge? Geez proved this in his thread here in 2009 and I followed his live calls with entries, stops and targets for over a year.

    Giving up on day trading?

Yes, do share; I thought my win rate was stellar, but you win :D

Have you ever taken the physical delivery of a commodity-future?

Forgot to offset my long positions in coffee, cocoa and sugar, so I opened a Starbucks and ended up with a 1000% ROI on the trades.

I think the smart money that's been buying in from the triple bottom support level a while back is sitting on some very nice profit, and have no intention of selling until the "late-to-the-party" buyers (who have to look good now) drive price to a real nice sell-into-strength level. Yes, I...

There was a strong trend line to the upside that was finally broken on the late-day pullback, but price consolidated in a narrow range (flag) without completely breaking down the previous trend, so there was an equal chance price could go either way. It's best to let price confirm whether to go...

Everyone here is targeting 1-10 points on day trades (except ESDreamer), so I don't think The Big Drop or The Big Bounce really means much, but damn I was pissed to be playing downside breaks over and over again in the weeks leading into the "crash" and on May 6th there I was waiting like a dumb...

    Working on Consistent Profitability

I've been doing review of each day for a couple months now to determine the P/L difference between leaving initial stops/targets in place, and moving stops to b/e after price moves a certain distance in my favor. IF I'm focused and alert enough to re-enter the trade after a b/e stop out...

You consider it "amateur" to wait for "the big drop" before buying (which is a professional "buy low" strategy), yet you bought a high last month and averaged down during an 80-point drop, which does not seem all that professional.

Your short here coincided with a pre-market lower channel line I'd drawn near the NYMEX open. It acted as resistance and convinced me to join you. Took almost half hour to get my damn 20 ticks!

Ammo, your target was exactly what my target method came up with and I thought there was some kind of magic mojo happening between us that guaranteed a new low. What happened to this POS?

DV, forgot to say, your trade was really well-played, that's how to counter-trend. Now be sure to take those "second mouse" trades, they can be really good :)

I reversed short and was trailing my profit target after the 20-tick minimum by 10 ticks at a time and couldn't move it lower fast enough because my DOM didn't re-center the price, then I didn't want to chase a re-entry cause it looked "too low" By the way, my trades this morning are a...
