    ES Journal Archive (2006 - 2008)

For the divergence traders out there... Has anyone looked at Cynthia Kase's indicators? I've just downloaded the series of articles she's written on trading and technical analysis. A lot of interesting ideas, albeit material you have to work with a little...

What has happened to the Bund price action??

A mate of mine at one of the London arcades (bund trader) tells me that noone is making any cash in FI. All the money is being made by the stock index traders. Different game, different approach required but perhaps time to switch.... Any thoughts?

EOD Data, 3 to 10 day holding period

So I gather... What does that mean though? Pushing the discussion on a bit, for Daytrading systems, one can look to Volatility Breakout for inspiration. For Long term trend following, Double Moving Average Crossover works pretty well, if applied to a diversified portfolio of futures. But...

EOD Data, 3 to 10 day holding period

That's a fairly emotional reply. The point of my post was to see if anything stuck to the wall on this timeframe. So often it's day trading or long term trend following. What's in between?

EOD Data, 3 to 10 day holding period

Just testing the water... Does anyone here trade mechanically on EOD data with a 3 to 10 day holding period?

    Acrary is not 100% reliable

I don't have a problem with cross referencing and questioning. However, if my post comes across as negatively spirited to the board, my apologies. My intention here is purely to highlight the importance of verifying ideas for oneself.

    Acrary is not 100% reliable

Now that I've got your attention, I'd firstly like to thank Acrary for his thought provoking posts. That said, here are a few links that highlight the importance of questioning authority. ----------------- "You might be interested to know that the SP market starts trending with 30 min...

Reasons for failur in automatic trading systems

It certainly is a strong opinion. I don't agree with it 100% but there is merit in it nonetheless. The quotes and links posted below are a reminder to investigate and verify ideas for oneself. ------------- "You might be interested to know that the SP market starts trending with 30 min...

    Simple Profitable Method

Not convinced that suggestion will make a significant difference to the results of trading the signals by themselves. Eyeball the charts and see what you think. The reason I took the 'confirmed' MACD crossover approach was pretty straightforward. If you look at the beginning of the thread, I...

    Simple Profitable Method

I think that's a crucial point. Having now looked into the SPM a bit, it seems the method provides context and possible entry points for **discretionary** traders. It's **not** a complete system to be traded mechanically.

    Simple Profitable Method

Here's a series of SPM charts from the last few days. Some details: - ER2 - 2 min timeframe - 89SMA acts as a signal filter, trading only with the trend - Go long/short on a breach of the MACD zero line or MACD EMA, whicever is higher/lower - 2pt profit target, 1pt stop loss - No...
