    Manual trading and profitable?

Well, I was questioning your statement where you said you fail to see how a manual trader can have an edge over algos. My point was that you may be comparing apples and oranges. All things equal a computer will always be faster than a human and perform the same way every single day without...

    Manual trading and profitable?

What does this specifically mean, i.e., an edge over algos? And further, is "an edge over algos" needed for a manual trader to trade profitably? As long as a trader can buy low and sell high or vice versa isn't that all that matters? Could be a myriad of reasons for that ranging from not...

Locking in one point on that trade. Will add a few contracts in RTH if we get continuation and try to hold that all the way to > 4K. Should see a nice squeeze coming up here, but we're not out of the woods just yet.

Gap from Friday's ETH Close almost filled. Initiating a weekly swing long here (21.50) on small size. Will scale in (add) on higher prices. Even within a long scenario we can still pull back some here, IMO. 3900 or so. So, will stop out around 3910 and rather initiate a new trade if wrong on...

That's the main scenario. :) I like to map out various scenarios such that I'm always prepared and do my best to not get locked down on either one as soon as I get new information indicating I was wrong initially. What would surprise me is if we break out of this channel and get a new major...

Al Brooks books vs trading course

I will try to stay out of any debate, but I can't help comment that from what I know, there seems to be no proof that the Al Brooks methodology is making anyone serious money. Be that Al Brooks himself or his students. If Al Brooks himself was making good money day trading ES it would be a very...

That's very impressive numbers. Not knowing your account size of course, but impressive regardless. Interesting. And I agree on the psychological aspect. I think it's important to be in a happy place when trading and to protect yourself mentally. What you say on trading days reminds me of...

Chart reading in a nutshell. One man's range is another man's triangle is another man's double top is another you name it... :) Regardless of what that geometric figure is - the market did breakout on Friday. That breakout could still turn out to be a failure. If we open around Friday's Close...

Yes. Agreed. I've lost count of how many times I've been excited for the next trading week curious about how it plays out. It never seems to get old. Well, maybe some weeks are more exciting than others. With the market stuck in a range lately and attempting a breakout at the end of this week...

Great. I was just noticing your comment..."Considering the fact that there are too many bears trapped"...which seemed to suggest you actually knew this for certain. As such, I was wondering if there was a way you knew this for sure. From your answer I take it that this is just a speculative...

    ES Journal - 2023/2024

Interesting. How do you know for a fact that there's "too many" bears trapped? The market's been range bound for a long time now giving ample opportunity to take an exit. The market's not up more than ~ 140 points / 3.7 % from the last swing low. Comparably, we're down ~ 223 points / 5,5...

Jack Hershey was a very interesting fellow. I'm actually a bit of a fan and I think he had a lot of interesting things to say, but I only ever scratched the surface of his teachings. He made a few statements which clearly does not seem to be true, but I notice most of his followers would write...

I hear you. I have a background in construction myself. Trading can be a pain in the a$$ as well. :)

    Crazy paper trading day

How did you become a millionaire? Unless it was by luck or inheritance, why not keep doing that? Plenty of millionaires and billionaires who lost their fortune by attempting to trade. In Norway there's at least two who did exactly that. One had little to none experience with trading and the...

For placing orders I prefer the chart trader on Ninjatrader. I bought an add-on called Clicker by Volaty which makes it really easy to place trades. An advantage with the DOM is that you can place 1-click orders, but I'm not really sure it's needed?

It's an interesting question. I would first like to ask what you consider a daily ideal quota? Is it a dollar figure, i.e., a % of your account? Or is it related to the metrics of the market, i.e., a certain % of the daily range in points? In my view, if you have a mechanical system with a...

    ES Journal - 2023/2024

Friday's High was a gap fill of the Close on 15th December. Next gap above would be 4029,25. There are three gaps below at 3806,75, 3755,50 and 3599,25. Personally, I would be hesitant to make predictions far ahead in this market as it can turn on a dime these days. Best to stay really nimble...

And then buy. And sell. And buy. We're stuck in a 100 point range here for the last 12 trading days with a few failures to breakout in both directions.

I was referencing the RTH session from 09:30 - 16:00. No overnight holds. Every day there's usually 2 or 3 major swings with trend days being the exception (one swing from low to high or vice versa). If you look at the last trading day of 2022, there were two major swings on the day: -...
