    CL Redux

No, the shed would be repossessed :D Fortunately the small live account wouldn't have allowed orders for 168 lots to go through! But those million dollar sim accounts let you do all kinds of scary crap.

    CL Redux

I'm the bearer of very bad news. My programmer added new defining criteria to the system over the weekend, and started it up last night to test the new code. We checked on its progress about half an hour ago and it was down $55,000. It had done about 50 trades, many of them 150 cars or more...

    CL Redux

I'm the price action queen indeed. My calls were great. I've decided to quit trading and start a subscription service that provides the best CL trade calls in town :p

All me, the market's beautiful. I've no idea what Robo-NoD is doing, but I can guarantee it's making money!

    CL Redux

I'm trading like sh*t today and since I've whined at my trading roomies enough already, I've decided to whine here. Thank you in advance for your secret glee :D

When The Ship Starts to Sink ---- Jump

I emailed my friends earlier today in a discussion about how the market rewards that which is difficult and here were my #3 and 4: 3. Cutting losers. We are conditioned to be “right” as often as possible, to get good grades, to win games. By the time we’re in high school and college...

tomahawk's being very modest about his own uncanny ability to pick counter-trend entries 2 ticks from tops and bottoms :D

I found that CL fit my trading personality really well. I'm trading 1 until I attain the trader's mindset (Douglas' Trading in the Zone"). In case I never attain the trader's mindset, I'm having my geek of a husband program an automated system based on my trading style and all he can talk about...

Day Trading is a destructive addiction

db, you outdone yourself. This is by far some of the finest trader porn I've ever read.

Thanks, ESD. I'm just over 2 years in, so technically a noob and now fighting the great battle of tossing out ego (ammo on my case about that) and just trusting my trading system instead of my opinion that some setups are better than others and that I can somehow know in advance which ones are...

It's the part about holding the position that usually causes the trouble and it's especially troublesome if the trade is counter-trend. Let's say for example, I expect ES to eventually pull back to 1088, I feel it may be nearing a turning point, and I decide to scale in 3 times if it runs...

Thanks, that's about what I do with the exception of moving stops to b/e when +$100 move on counter-trend and +$200 move on with-trend trades per lot (this is for CL; ES is stop to b/e after +$100 on all trades). My targets are flexible, but always a minimum $200 unless I was late to the party...

That's a very good strategy, IMHO. The way I trade currently results in a lot of b/e trades, but I admit that although it's psychologically "comfortable" to have very few losers, this tactic cuts my overall profitability a lot. How do you set targets and how do you determine that the market...

NH, what is your technique for riding winners? Do you trail a stop, scale out, base exits on price action near major levels, exit on pushes to new highs/lows and re-enter on pullbacks, or...?

Do you mean that if you trade a breakout and it fails, you exit the position and try again with larger size on the next attempt to break that level?

Who Am I Now Friends With? Part II

Dear IT, Redneck is truly an R.N. for sick traders. Arthur is a card-carrying MENSA member. I am ET's resident Mom. db is responsible for me having to clean up my workspace frequently if I'm in mid-swill when I read his replies to my posts. Good times, NoD

    who is austin p

I asked Austin some questions about futures trading a few months ago and he kindly answered my questions in a professional manner. He also posted a link once to some of his public material and I found it to be excellent, though I struggle every day with totally implementing it because...
