Ready to start trailing my exit if we don't take out the HOD here. It's far from certain at this point, although the market does seem to want to go higher.
3814 is last week's RTH mid-point.
Plenty of time to go long if this bottoms out, so no need to become a bag holder here.
I'm not sold on the short side either, so just sitting this out for now, but watching for long entries.
We'll see a flood of buying on the Open or we won't. It's that simple.
The first 5-minute bar should be telling. If it's a nice green candle, we should hold that for the rest of the session if today's an Up Day.
An alternative scenario is a weak dip into yesterday's range/close and then...
At this point it's not that much of a gap.
Today's a Tuesday and we're set to open above yesterday's high when Monday was positive, too. Out of the last 6 times that happened only 2 days were gap and go higher from the Open.
Two of them had a much larger gap than this and that gap was sold...
You really shouldn't be quoting the financial media as they know j**k sh*t. They're the last to know anything and will just make whatever news or story they have fit with current prices.
If the futures were down they would be writing something about how investors are taking risk off facing...
It's fascinating to watch how people obsess with calling a bottom and keep looking for an end of year rally while the market is offering an abundance of huge moves up and down on a weekly and even daily basis in the meanwhile. That's where the focus should be. Not trying to capture a very...
That breakout above the current overnight high at the time lost momentum. Doesn't change much from my POV as long as we're holding above 3800. For now it's just the usual back-filling and retracing on good old ES. It's not unusual that the first attempt fails.
Are you calling a top here? Your last call was very much spot on.
Are you taking today's midterm election results in consideration? Surely they can shake up things considerably either way?
Biden wants 3850 today.
I've no idea how the markets will respond to midterm election results, but I imagine it will shake up the markets and we'll see a big move either way coming out of yesterday's range. Or worse - whippy and volatile two-sided action.
Yesterday (Monday)...
Weak dip to 3800 - check. Looks like NQ is leading higher for once lately.
I'm thinking 3850 from here, but not sure if we'll go that high pre-market. Might have to wait for the RTH Open.
That’s indeed interesting. I talked to a guy a few years ago who also was running either a semi-automated or fully automated strategy and he also said that he was able to exploit NQ, but broke even on ES with the same strategy.
ES is on average more noisy and mean-reverting than NQ which...
