Weird about doing TA prior to trading.

Not really. My day trading is done 100 % technically. That said, even within this bull trend, I was anticipating at least a pullback on higher time frames last week. That didn't materialize. Technically, we're slightly overextended here, but similar patterns have played out in the past with...

    The S&P 500 topped at 3481

Guys. Show @volente_00 some respect. Kudos to him for sticking his neck out, IMO. Have there ever been a time in history were the US markets had more government support than now?

    The S&P 500 topped at 3481

This market is incredibly bullish at the moment. Too bullish - some may say. Even irrational. We made new ATHs this week and closed at top of the range. Not only that - but we have 5 consecutive higher weekly closes where the low came early in the week. The last 4 times this have happened in...

    The S&P 500 topped at 3481

Nothing is ever certain. While it's true they've been buying opportunities, there's been plenty of deep corrections over the last 10 years. They same was true in Japan in the 80s. But sure. This is a bull market and it is rigged to the upside. No denying that.

    ES Journal - 2019/2020

Well, there was recently the comeback of a perma-bull who admitted a recent major loss. Might have been in March. And the largest move today was down. Still. This is a bull market for now.

Quite a few new perma-bulls here lately. :)

Is adjusting your stop for a free/ reduced loss worth it from a probability standpoint?

Agreed. And I believe that was what I alluded to when I said it doesn't make sense to let a winning trade turn into a loss? :)

Yeah. Usually the other way around. Then again - NQ have quite the headstart.

Or to use ES-Journal lingo: We're building a floor. :)

Volatile. Anything could happen on a day like today, but it appears we're building a base here for a run towards 3500.

Is adjusting your stop for a free/ reduced loss worth it from a probability standpoint?

The only straightforward answer IMO is that moving your stop to B/E too soon is a guaranteed way of not making profits. Doesn't matter if you don't lose if you never make profits either. On the other hand - it does not seem smart to let a winning trade turn into a loss either. So, I will...

Well, to be fair, I think the big picture and macro view is far more interesting than the daily oscillations. And there's plenty of people who have that as their main concern and considers daily movement noise. But sure - for day traders only the present day is what matters. Likewise.

    ES Journal - 2019/2020

I think my point went over your head as I wasn't talking about today's day trading session, but the big picture and where this market is headed moving forward, i.e., a crazy bull market printing daily all time highs while the economy is down the drain. I've been mostly bullish in this journal...

Parabolic move is what we are witnessing..8-2020

LOL. No, seriously. Would be fun to hear what he's been up to. I believe some people were genuinely worried for him. He did after all disappear when the market went into free fall. I hope he did well and stayed out of trouble.

Interesting, @wave. I'm sure he's not the only one and similar things could been said about many members on this board. I just can't see how this is anything but a big bubble, but I'm certainly not fighting it and try to keep my trading 100 % neutral and technical.

    ES Journal - 2019/2020

I try to keep an open mind, but it's hard to see a downtrend of any magnitude at this point - as long as the conditions which are driving this market still remains in effect. Maybe the US election can shake things up, but even a Biden win does not seem to be a certain death blow to the market...

    ES Journal - 2019/2020

But wow. What a market. ES pretty much never looked back once the 3400 level was cleared. Will the S&P now continue printing daily ATHs like NQ have been doing for the last two months? At this point - it seems like it's just numbers on a screen. Maybe that's what it's been all the time. And if...
