I'm going to mostly cash in Long-Term portfolio

And why would he? He doesn't have a sign for crypto either. He's an old fashioned guy, deals mainly in cash and credit card. But when we hit the Mad Max scenario I can guarantee you gold will have more value than crypto. :) (Bullets and beans; It helps to also have a gun. guns make the bullets...

Have you seen the Greystone commercial with the Mad Max scenario. Some guy with a spiked baseball bat defending his choice to buy bitcoin. In that case I'd rather have gold.

The beauty of living in a rural community is that everyone knows just about everyone else. We have enough part time prospectors that you could probably get pretty close to the going spot price.

Thank you. I'm beginning to see what you guys are getting at. The US dollar, the currency of choice, is backed by the US government. I've seen the US government. It's made up of politicians. And there is nothing more trustworthy than a politician. Now I have to decide who I trust more...

That's true. So far I haven't found a convincing argument. Does that mean I should stop looking? So far all I get is that I should be a believer. Almost sounds like a religion.

I trade miners. They're a terrible investment. Bought some SLS this morning.

    Leveraged ETFs as long-term hold...

There's a study out there somewhere that shows if you had bought $10,000 worth of TQQQ and SQQQ at their IPO; Today the TQQQ is worth over 1 million and SQQQ is worth about 6 bucks.

The QQQ like SPY is a momo strategy. You always have a chunk of the 100 highest value stocks on NASDAQ. Even if in the stocks held today crash they get replaced by whatever is hot. If you play the triple or 5X all you have to do is stand the wild ride. But you never know. History tells us that...

I'm sure he'll broadcast his winning trades. But keep in mind Ken is a trader. Don't expect him to hold on to a losing trade. As a trader it's okay to be wrong as long as your not wrong for long.

    Bitcoin "Freefall"

Very true. I'm just voicing my opinion that I don't think that crypto is a good investment at this time. It's my opinion and I feel that everyone is entitled to it. :)

    Bitcoin "Freefall"

This is true. But I have a choice, I don't have to use a credit card to make a purchase. I know it would make my life that much more difficult but it is still a choice. When the electric power is off for any reason I can't spend with my credit card but I can with cash.

Why are you still holding crypto? It's a market that trades just like stocks and it seems to be in a downtrend.

    Bitcoin "Freefall"

Instead of looking at similarities between crypto and gold maybe we should look at the differences; Gold is real. I can see it, hold it, drop it on my foot. It's a thing. Crypto is a digital asset. It's in a computer somewhere but I can't tell you where exactly. I can use gold for other things...

    Hypothetical dilemma

The S&P is a momo strategy. You will always own the 500 or so most valuable companies in the US. Who know 8 years out but it's where I'd put my money if I was limited to the choices above.
