typical US family's net worth: $93,100

Sorry if I sound too bossy. Just want to stay on topic. Not jealous, but sorry. There's going to be a severe recession in the US, many will be hurt. And it will affect the rest of the world too. Except perhaps Africa. Good place to invest? :) My motive is simply to understand the...

Of course they are lying. The Fed's number one priority after all is to maintain its credibility. That's even more important than their official mission to have "stable prices and full employment".

typical US family's net worth: $93,100

First of all, please stay on topic. For those wanting a US vs rest-of-world shouting match, there is chit chat. At least on housing, you are wrong. Sales have already fallen dramatically, shortage has turned into a glut, and prices turned down. Since sales seem to continue falling and...

Pabst, yes, stagflation indeed seems to be the most likely outcome. From Ben's speeches I believe that is what the Fed is aiming for. They want to soften the blow from the bursting asset bubbles. Perhaps they even hope to prevent a recession altogether, but that is impossible. Asset bubbles...

typical US family's net worth: $93,100

Well, if you study the fundamentals of housing, you will find that it is very likely that house prices will fall quite soon and A LOT. Also that should trigger a recession, since the economy has depended on housing for so much and for a long time.

typical US family's net worth: $93,100

So, after the housing bubble bursts and real estate values fall by 50%, the typical American family will be almost bankrupt? House value $160k -> $80k. Minus mortgage $95k equals -$15k, i.e. negative equity in home. And of course the poorer 25% of families will be bankrupt a lot earlier...

Nice theory, let's see how it turns out. Just want to add that the reason for low bond yields is the same as for high share & real estate prices: too much money. Just as there's a housing bubble, there is also a stock bubble, bond bubble and a bubble even in some commodities. Instead of...

    Will stocks ever trade 24/7?

Oh, that's too much! 4 hrs a day, 4 days a week is more than enough. We need some free time, don't we?

    $ Silver $

Thanks for that mineweb, looks like a useful site. Also on mineweb was mentioned that the Indian CB already sold 32m oz last year. Seems they are rapidly running out of inventory, so no more supplies coming from there either. And: "US government inventories are now very low and that the...

    Silver ETF (SLV)

The SLV trust has already gathered 42m ounces of silver in just one week of trading. Since the worldwide inventory is only about 10x that, how long it can take for the price to start rocketing? Just wondering.

    China Central Bank Raises Rates

A country growing 10% pa. for years has its official interest at half of that and long-term bond yields at 3%. Is it any wonder that loan & money growth is "excessive"? Or rather, totally out of control. How big a bubble do the commies want to build before they let it burst? And when might it...

Best US State to Trade from?

Well, depends on what you like. There are many nice places here in Europe, low-tax or low-cost, seaside or mountains etc. Just wish you Americans would also look outside the US, which is mostly a rather boring country!
