How to stop picking tops or bottoms

It seems between the three of you, you support the general wisdom that picking tops and bottoms consistently is impossible - using conventional TA - such as chart patterns, candlestick formations, MACD, RSI etc. Happy with that. Cheers.

How to stop picking tops or bottoms

You clearly did well on these schweiz. But these are bare charts - what TA told you to enter long or short at these points?

How to stop picking tops or bottoms

Hmmm, provocative stuff, when most professionals say it can't be done consistently, and the people who are mostly saying it can are vendors with something of doubtful value to sell to newbies. Leaving that aside, it would still be nice to be as good at picking tops and bottoms as possible, but...

    Does Technical Analysis Work?

Thank you, though I'm not sure of the terms of reference. Successful private retail DAY-traders are definitely rare, but I'm not one of them. As for long-term traders, I think many of them are not always regarded as traders by other traders or by the industry even by their own definition of...

How was trading 100 years ago?

I know what trading was like 100 years ago, but I can't remember.

I am told this insanely march in Stockholm is soccer-related

If you're from the US or maybe Canada its hard to understand the fundamental importance of football (soccer). Bill Shankly, legendary Liverpoool manager, was accused of treating football as if it was a matter of life and death. He replied "Its more important than that".

Do you need to understand where the edge comes from?

If you don't understand your own strategy, how can you prevent it failing, how can you improve it, how can you identify a better one?

Do you guys really mean still long from 2017 or long (again) since June?

If spreadbetting was legal where you are, would you do it?

I should have added that SB is absolutely the wrong vehicle for day-trading. The spreads and price biases are just too great, and the smaller the time-frame the worse these effects. The successful SB-ers I have come across use it for long-term trades.

    Only lose 1%

Its very tempting for new traders to over-trade, which can mean both over-frequent trading but also over-large trade and risk sizes. A 1% risk seems awfully pedestrian when you have $25,000 in the bank. But let's see what you could do with this pot and then work out if its worthwhile or not...

How can I make money by investing in share market?

There is no investment or trade that has 0% risk. It is guaranteed that some individual shares that you buy will fall in price. If minimising risk is the only priority, then buy shares that pay dividends but never sell them. So you get the dividend income during your life and can then pass the...

    CADJPY

I overlooked short AUD/CAD as another good option (I can declare I am already short this one).

    CADJPY

On a wider perspective, CAD is bullish against 5 of its 6 major counters, its only weak against the GBP but that's probably occurring from GBP recovery not CAD deterioration. JPY is only bullish against AUD and NZD, but again, that's probably more to do with their weakness than JPY's strength...

Me and Alpesh Patel would agree with this.

    Anyone use moving average indicators?

Useful in trend following, in which case lag is irrelevant, to confirm trend and as a rough indication of momentum if say you want to compare two trends.

If spreadbetting was legal where you are, would you do it?

SB firms based in the UK have for a long time been obliged to run the financial services compensation scheme for their clients, so they have to segregate clients' deposits from their operating funds and the client is entitled to refunded deposited capital from the scheme if the firm goes bust...

Sears Files for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

As far as experienced traders and investors are concerned I agree. But a company like this will have surely put shares up to their employees, either free or discounted, many of these people knowing nothing of stock market risks. Sorry for them if they're stuck with losses.

If spreadbetting was legal where you are, would you do it?

Yes, you can short anything you can buy. There are no particular shorting restrictions.
