How to move the the charts

What? Are you asking because you want to do this or because you think someone else is doing it?

Why isn't IB up here defending themselves?

This is shrewd. It is no help to traders if a broker goes bust.

How to move the the charts

Buying drives prices up, selling drives them down. Some say that lack of buying also drives prices down until the buyers emerge. With small capitalisation stocks, very small buying/selling volumes can cause major price changes. Stocks always have two prices, beware which one you are quoted (or...

Is price action trading the most insightful(& most accurate)?

A sideways range consists of uplegs and downlegs around a mean price or between two price extremes depending on which way you want to look at it. But if price is moving in opposite directions that cannot be a trend. It is at best two short opposite trends and whether they have a tendency to...

Ray Dalio vs Warren Buffet on Diversification. Who is right?

Its all a bit academic. Apart from the very wealthy, most ordinary people are way over-exposed to stock market / economy cycles in their long-term investments, while their actual portfolios of stocks are too small to generate sufficient hedge from dividend income against negative circumstances...

Is price action trading the most insightful(& most accurate)?

Yes. If yesterday's high was lower than the prior day's high, and the uptrend set-up conditions are still in place, I set a buy order (all my entries are via pre-set orders) just above yesterday's high. If this price is breached it can be interpreted as a trend resumption. If it is not breached...

Is price action trading the most insightful(& most accurate)?

It rarely happens but its always a minor possibility. There are I reckon 7 things that price in a trend can do next and the least likely is reverse. But that's what stop-losses are for.

Is price action trading the most insightful(& most accurate)?

I regularly buy in an ongoing uptrend at a lower daily high. But that's not really a support level. I don't buy at lows of pull-backs.

Is price action trading the most insightful(& most accurate)?

Thank you. I hold to the view that TA isn't to depict what the market will do, it is to identify what the trader will do and how he'll do it.

Is price action trading the most insightful(& most accurate)?

Its possible that the trends I follow can form a leg of a range on a very long time-scale but ranges are not patterns I look for or mark on the chart. I don't even seek or mark support in downtrends or resistance in uptrends, nor trend channel boundaries or trend-lines or highs and lows.

Is price action trading the most insightful(& most accurate)?

I will define what I call a trend but I don't claim that my definition makes what we all see on the same chart a trend. Its just a trend as far as my strategy is concerned. Its not a fingerprint. For me to get long, I need to see on the D1 chart the 20EMA above the 50EMA and both sloping...

Managing gap-down risks during earnings season for stocks

This is a great question which addresses a real problem in shareholding. But shouldn't there be as many gap ups as gap downs? Since gap ups have no maximum value whereas gap downs can only go to zero, in a large enough sample run the gains should outweigh the losses. As long as a huge gap down...

How many traders are actually making a living?

Which is more good evidence that you don't need to know more and more about the markets in order to be a good trader. This is pretty much the reverse of every other professional activity we get into in our lives. They're all pretty bad preparations for trading and poor indicators of one's...

Is price action trading the most insightful(& most accurate)?

Yes, you have summarised the question in another way but you have focused in a specific context, price ranges. I don't trade these as it involves prediction, i.e. that price will go down although it is now going up. This is of course based on past evidence or past history and will work much of...

Is price action trading the most insightful(& most accurate)?

This predict question gets lost in semantics every time but its fundamental to what TA is. The real question is, if the chart shows me price is going up, do I follow price and buy or do I not follow price and sell?

How to sell a profitable trading strategy?

You've spent 14 years on this project and you say you don't know what to do next. I could not under any circumstances put any faith in anything you say. But if you find that psychiatric help is a little expensive, I might be tempted to help out.

    Diversification vs. Specification

I have had only two long-term investments for the past 20 years - my house and my pension. Both are pretty healthy and have good long-term prospects. These make up the bulk of my investments and income I would not consider increasing my commitment to long-term investments further, partly...

Using Offshore brokers and MORE leverage than allowed by US/EU regulation

I'm wanting to make sure we're all starting off on the same basis. When you say almost everybody you know is trying to get 1:500 leverage because its more profitable, does that mean that almost everybody you know is making a profit? Or does it mean they haven't made a profit yet but they want...

    Why waste your time?

Yes, its a regulatory requirement now across the EU and will probably remain one in the UK. The data normally refer to current clients, so they're saying that clients with accounts on this day are mostly losing money.
