    Servers Anyone?...

    Wait a second - I thought your question was - Why do traders have more than one machine? You have more than one machine. :confused:

    Servers Anyone?...

    Hot swap CPUs? That is what I am saying - while you are down putting a new CPU in, the trader with two $500 boxes (say one of his goes down) is still happily trading.

    My next motherboard

    Nitro - that looks sweet. I did a quick google search, but didn't turn up any price info. Golly, and fill it with dual cores too...

    Servers Anyone?...

    Well, not speaking from a traders perspective, but from a system engineering perspective - redundancy, redundancy, redundancy. If one of your multiprocessor machines blows a CPU, that machine may be down for the count (perhaps...). However, if you have several machines and one goes down, you...

    Double my money (forex)

    Without question - reading this thread is an educational cautionary tale of EXACTLY what not to do. Classic expamples of over-trading (aka gambling) when a system obviously has not be developed (either fully or at all). Even sadder is that I can see myself in Mr. double's shoes (20 years...

    Ron Insana - Analyst?

    Cory - not a big loss. I hope Ron stays on air often. Dang - he has been my favorite since FNN days!

    I did it!...I just configured and ordered a Athlon Dual Core from CyberPowerSystems

    That is an awesome price. Just one caveat - there is only a $50 difference between the x2 3800 and the x2 4200. It will give you a tad more compute power (just a tad), but might be worth the extra $50.

    I am playing around with chart pattern recognition over at my blog - www.deepmarket.com - Highly experimental and any feedback would be awesome.

    C++ vs. Borland Delphi

    I will add a vote for Java. If you are LEARNING a new language - I would recommend Java over C++. Not to get into a religious war, but Java will allow you to concentrate on developing your trading system, while C++ can be a bit tougher to learn right out of the gate. Not to say that you...

    Turbo Excel/C++

    I took a quick look at the web site. I see no reason why it would not work, but you have to be aware that you are removing Excel from the equation - thus the GUI. So, once you have compiled your code, you still need to hook it into a GUI (using Excel, C++, Java, VB, etc and so on). Depends...

    More on DUAL CORE

    You may want to ask they guys over at 2cpu.com - they eat this stuff for breakfast.

    Java Plugins.. How horrible they are..

    I am speaking from a developer's perspective, but can't you solve the problem by going to java.com and downloading the latest JRE? It is a simple process. Oh - also - which browser are you using? IE or FireFox?

    Looking to purchase a laptop Cheap :)

    Whatever you do - go for the 512MB. It will make all the difference in the world. A jump to 1GB would be nice, but not as significant as from 256 to 512.

    Best Trading Related Blogs

    I generally check in with Trader Mike and ugly chart, but also do a lot of random surfing from Technorati blogs tagged stock - usually something interesting appears there.
