    NYC help

You'll be hard pressed to find a firm that offers no cap down. As for training, my advice is to come in and talk to the traders that went through the program. If you're unhappy with the training make sure you can leave with your capital right away.

Are you looking to start a BD or just a sub group (prop shop) under an existing firm. To start a BD isn't worth it rate wars have brought down rates so low that fixed costs will kill you.

    Worldco, Santa Monica..Bait and Switch

I'm been a poster for a while, and I don't work for Worldco. But I do know the trader, and it wasn't his decision. It was a Worldco firm wide decision. So he had no choice but to change the policy. This happened in several offices of traders that I know that run them for Worldco. Kinda...

    Worldco, Santa Monica..Bait and Switch

Your last two points are actually pretty good and make sense. The only point you miss, is that prop shops have had to change their business model cause the lower rates just don't build in enough margin to take the losses on the losing traders.

Would like some advice on proprietary trading firms.

Are you nuts, have ETG and Schony just recently not closed offices? I have several friends that run different shops in this business, and 1/2 mil+ a year guys basically do not exist. So where is the liable in what I said. Overtheline, you're the type that just likes to take the opposite...

Would like some advice on proprietary trading firms.

Give me break Samba, now I realize you live in the past. There are a rare few traders w/o order flow that are making 1/2 million a year. Most of those shops you mentioned ETG, Schony are closing down, and most of their traders who were making millions in the great bull market, blew up or...

Would like some advice on proprietary trading firms.

The guy is looking to trade at a place where there are at least some successful traders he can bounce ideas off of or pick up helpful info from. He doesn't seem to be looking for someone to sit there and hold his hand, which most failing traders want. If you don't have alot of capital to...

Why do traders blame their firms for not succeeding?

Look, some people actually have had good experiences with firms we've had bad experiences with. So you can't attack everyone that tries to tout that firm. Just leave it be. There is enough info on this board for someone to figure out which firms are good, and which one's are bad. But the...
