Question: how to deal with trolls? Can't anybody do something about them?

OK, I have to admit it, this is going to be really amusing and interesting. I was against it at first, but now I am rather looking forward to it quite frankly.

db, as long as you allow me to make a fair point before you banish me. I honestly do try to post constructive content.

Question: how to deal with trolls? Can't anybody do something about them?

Two Points: 1. I foresee a gazillion threads with only three or four posts each that reinforce the OP's point. We live in narcissistic, self-centered times where our egos require constant stroking and reinforcement. Lots of thin skins and hair trigger tempers on this site. A possible...

The Future Of Prop Firms (Marex Up For Sale)

US registered electronic futures proprietary trading firms are not allowed to risk the trader's capital - only the firm's. In fact, the trader is an employee who gets paid on a Form W-2. As such, the firm will define that trader's daily risk limits, and will at some point when a certain debit...

Pasty white liberal pretends to be black, gets job with the NAACP, sends herself death threats.

A genuine person of courageous conviction, regardless of race, can staunchly and wholeheartedly support the NAACP without perpetuating a hoax and a fraud.

Why is day trading considered dangerous?

I think a worthwhile analogy to the OP's original question would be the difficulties most pit traders experienced trying to transition to screen trading in Chicago. Being a pit local always meant buying bids, selling offers, and making markets. In the late 90's and early to mid 2000's, the...

The Future Of Prop Firms (Marex Up For Sale)

The Chicago prop firms that I know of that are doing OK are for the most part employing autonomous groups of traders that have an automated approach, and they tend to invest heavily in ECN infrastructure. The firms that stayed with the manual "point and click" scalping style of traders are long...

I am sick of these fake mentors

Actually, there are multiple clandestine "vendors" participating in this thread - including the OP. I just choose to make myself known legitimately and pay for the privilege.

Pasty white liberal pretends to be black, gets job with the NAACP, sends herself death threats.

Just when I thought political correctness was at its' peak, the term "transracial" appears. Harvard should accept that on their application. There's money and prestige when it comes to race baiting !

Pasty white liberal pretends to be black, gets job with the NAACP, sends herself death threats.

She's totally and completely Caucasian. Her parents outed her and provided the family tree genealogy ( literally ). Says she should stop bullshitting her way through life and get real. So to speak.

Trader to Pay $1 Million for Short Selling Violations

The exchange might might very well have been the reporting party to the SEC with respect to the Rule violation. I do know that in terms of futures trading violations, it is typically the exchange and/or the NFA that reports the violators/violations to the CFTC.

I am sick of these fake mentors

I'm a degreed Engineer with multiple US and international patents in the field. Does that make my trading system better ? Some of the wealthiest traders I have met through my career have backgrounds that are decidedly non-scientific. It takes all kinds, and there is no one correct way.

I am sick of these fake mentors

Maybe the question really is... why should we take MS seriously ? Wouldn't it be appropriate for Baron to attach a disclaimer to his profile that his posts are strictly for entertainment value ?

I am sick of these fake mentors

The irony of it all is that a couple of simple "price action" tools - namely a trend line and the recognition of higher highs and higher lows on SHAK would have kept MS from shorting SHAK. Price action might be a better way to trade or make public calls than a bad dining experience. Just saying.

MCD is in big trouble. May not exist in 5 years

I agree that MCD has subpar food even for fast food, and yes the franchise owners are pissed about the constant menu changes and expenses. It is spot on that there are much better fast food alternatives in the same price point in terms of quality and taste. I would imagine that if we are...

I am sick of these fake mentors

This reminds me of the "short Shake Shack" proclamation thread on April 25th because it tastes so bad. No price action mentoring was used.

Intraday Futures 1-5 Min. Charts Pre-2008

I think it would be a more robust study if you were to somehow be able to compare order books and depth-of-market. Time and Sales data or very short term bar charts are going to tell you very little ( if anything ) in terms of automated spoofing and order flipping and gamesmanship.

    System enters too soon

It means that the system requires a great deal of refinement. Many systems try minimize premature trade entry by requiring at least one additional signal confirmation test. For my own spread trading system, we have four conditions ( or tests ) that need to be satisfied before an entry can be...

    Embarrassing Newbie question from Oldie

Ask the exchange who lists the option for a RFQ ( request for quote ). The exchange will then forward the request to the designated market maker. If you know how to confirm how fair the premium price quoted to you is, you will likely not like the quote given the liquidity vacuum you described...
