    surviving the first weeks

No. Not even an ambition, I don't day-trade.

    surviving the first weeks

The hard work is in the planning (including strategy research, backtesting, simulating, refining tactics, rules for optimising gains etc. etc.). The real trading is easy and boring.

Example of Technical analysis and subsequent trade ?

Not sure what's driving your enquiry. Are you finding the simplest TA is not reliable, or you cannot trade such TA sufficiently profitably? Most of all, what's wrong with trend-following?

People Who Watch Superhero Movies Are Garbage

Some of it is just too good to do without.

People Who Watch Superhero Movies Are Garbage

I still like some "childish" things - like slap-stick, like video games, like riding my bike for fun, etc. But other stuff I just dumped - like skipping, like anything to do with super-heroes or zombies, or like strange lands accessed through a wardrobe. There isn't any way to rationalise...

UK trader arrested for May 2010 U.S. Stock market flash crash

I hope for leniency too, even a suspended sentence. He was not part of an evil corporate plot, he was an intelligent guy working from his bed-room. To be honest, I think its the system gate-keepers who let this happen who deserve less leniency.

Steve McQueen's legendary 'Bullitt' Mustang fetches $3.4 million

Can't afford $3.4 million? I've got one of these in my Skoda - Puts a smile on my face every time i start it up.

    Markets are impossible to predict

"Best" is quite a stretch isn't it? However, I think the view from this side of the Atlantic is Trump will win a second term because there is no recognisable down to earth opposition candidate. However, there's an old saying that governments aren't defeated, they defeat themselves. The...

    Yes, go for it.

    Swing trading stocks

The teaching I received (on an actual classroom course!) in stock trading was to maintain 5 open positions, each comprising 20% of your capital, each having a stop of -10% of the entry price. This means that even if fully committed, your account capital is damaged only by 2% if one of your...

    Markets are impossible to predict

Always wait for a dip in order to re-enter. Never wait for overbought to confirm before taking profits. In an uptrend, be long: do not be short until we're in a downtrend. If we're not in either an uptrend or a downtrend as defined by your individual strategy, either use an interim alternative...

    Markets are impossible to predict

    No, you're simply being obtuse.

    Markets are impossible to predict

Markets are very hard to predict. But very easy to follow. If the market is showing that it is currently hard to follow, stop trading until you pick up a clear trail again. An example of a good time to stop trading might be when two significant military powers are hurling bombs, missiles...

What if you won the lottery?

But if I won the lottery, trading would be the last thing to do on the to-do the list. Just below investing.

What if you won the lottery?

If I won the lottery, nobody would be more surprised than me as I never have and never will buy a ticket. In practice, there is an equal chance of me winning the lottery without a ticket as winning the lottery by buying a single ticket this week - both are zero.

IG Client Sentiment : are shorts really this many ?

Not sure what you're saying - whose signal? what signal? The IG sentiment report just shows the % of clients long v's the % of clients short.

    Long Term Investing SP500 (Newbie)

Cheers for this. Relationships complicate all financial planning. I understand why you're hesitant about a joint mortgage, at least until the child reaches adulthood and moves away. You're already avoiding marriage to your partner, so this seems realistic. But by the same token, you're paying...

IG Client Sentiment : are shorts really this many ?

EU and UK brokers are obliged by the regulator to show their winning/losing client percentages. I draw the figure from these declarations. The figure fluctuates a bit as you might expect but I've never seen a UK/EU broker declare a losing figure lower than 70%. Naturally, if you look at...

IG Client Sentiment : are shorts really this many ?

No worries. Of course, bear in mind that at any one time about 75% of active private retail traders are losing money.

IG Client Sentiment : are shorts really this many ?

Sentiment indicators generally show the sentiment of clients with an open position. There's no limit on the percentage of clients who have a bullish / bearish position. Of course you don't know whether that's 1000 clients with huge money behind them or 3 guys with 50 quid each.
