MC dot-net vs. Legacy PowerLanguage version

The dot-net version just came out and it is only $1000 versus the Easy Language compatible version for $1500. The speed improvement is not that great however, with someone on the MC forums indicating 31 sec vs. 43 sec in a timing comparison. Still, with the power of the dot-net platform, a lot...

Thanks for that well-needed (and deserved) sarcastic statement.

Looking for automated Trading System / have clients / need system

That's an oxymoron of sorts. Systems with High% winners usually have a small average winning trade amount and huge average losing trade amount. These systems usually have wide stop losses as well, and thus, don't really have a good R-R. Be careful of what you wish for in a system.

    Bowles-Simpson Epitomizes Our Current Plight

Lawyers out-of-control making too much money for the value they produce. PERIOD. http://www.marketwatch.com/story/bowles-simpson-have-overstayed-their-welcome-2012-12-13 Time to get rid of these valueless wretches.

    Are financial programmers under paid?

For the most part, I agree with you. However, the lawyers and lobbiests really threw the monkey wrench into the entire IT business 10 years ago. The H1B visa program crashed the market with lower rates and salaries. There's been a tiny rebound the past 3 years, but it's likely a dead-cat bounce...

    Are financial programmers under paid?

Been there, done that. Get this: had a gig at a wealth management firm pulling in about $3 million in fees per year. I was trying to fix their messed-up systems built by inexperienced programmers. Nothing was documented either. I had to figure out EVERYTHING. The VP of operations, a chick, spent...

All metals up today on Fed liquidity news. Copper back to a ridiculous price of $3.70. The higher they go, the harder they'll fall.

    Are financial programmers under paid?

Look, this is true. IT programming is a sh*t business today because of the million of Indians who have invaded this space. Rates are horrendously low. Agencies who represent programmers run the show; they make the money while you do the work. BTW: There are very few Indians with great design...

Anyone know anything about this Strategy?

I just saw the webinar. It's very interesting he uses 1/2 tick range bars for the reversion (trend reversal) strategy, but time or tick bars for the trend strategy. Also, he did not answer my question about it's performance in other symbols like the NQ ! A good strat should work with multiple...

A Five Minute Example of HFT Shenanigans

But the example shown indicates that is exactly what happened. Bids were being raised to meet the offer. The algos helped to lower the spread.

A Five Minute Example of HFT Shenanigans

Perhaps, but again, with thinly traded symbols, this is a definite possibility. HFT algos likely have less impact on highly liquid securities.
