$500+ a day trading index futures, possible?

I only have an "ala carte" menu for professional trading firms, as those contracts are typically retainers or purchase orders focused for a specific task or strategy. And the billing is considerably more than $7500. Something very specific that the firm needs my expertise with. I don't do...

$500+ a day trading index futures, possible?

The lump sum fee works best for my type of client - usually an experienced trader who wants to learn a niche specialty technique in order to add a revenue stream to his existing core competencies. I have a growing list of clients who eventually choose to stop scalping or day trading altogether...

    Increasing Size During Drawdown

And I also suggested to you in a previous post that you do the exercise yourself, using your own trading statements. Your drawdown characteristics and your trading system is unique to you. As I posted before, it is easy enough for you to run the numbers for yourself on your own trading...

    Anyone trade aussie bonds?

I have two clients who trade on the SFE. Both are former floor traders and they are spreaders. Seems to be the most consistent way to do it.

what financial instrument should a newbie start with?

Judging by the questions you ask in your original post it sounds like you need to develop and test a sound trading system and plan before you worry about your capitalization or what instruments to trade. My advice would be to subsribe to a cheap charting and testing platform using delayed data...

$500+ a day trading index futures, possible?

I find this type of thinking to be bassackwards, personally. Develop your consistency first and the money is a natural byproduct from that. I have always found it dangerous for an independent trader to project profitability in terms of a daily income average. Just doesn't work like that...

Anadarko flash crash raises questions about market structure rules

Great post. Very troubling development. Further evidence that the notion that HFTs stabilize a market is pure horseshit.

    Sequester nightmare, a big dud.

Very true observation. The White House is trying to contain some major scandals at the moment - Benghazi, the Internal Revenue Service political harrassment, the nightmare implementation problems and false promises for Obamacare ...

Ouch. Starting threads on ET with proclamations for a major market top or bottom has been a really dangerous endeavor.

If this market keeps being manipulated, the us market won't be attractive any more.

Aren't "manipulated" markets obvious by definition ? The OP might want to expound on what he defines as "manipulation" - QE2 and the consistent buying, perhaps ? We are already well versed in how HFTs manipulate markets, so please give that a rest for the time being.

Trading with a Stop Loss in the Futures Market is for Losers

Again, if a trader is manually using a mouse and a DOM to scalp markets for a tic, then yes he is asking for unsolicited prison sex. It isn't really about stops or capitalization - it's about competing against a number of automated trading systems designed to flip your over and take your money...

$500+ a day trading index futures, possible?

I have some clients who spread trade the index futures against each other for a living. I would not label them "day traders" but rather swing or position traders. One client here in Chicago and two clients in Singapore are particularly good at it in fact. On the ES vs. NQ spread for...

Everyone please be advised of the issues regarding the co-mingling and convolution and distortions between "training" funds and "trading" funds and some possible regulatory implications. There has been some recent CFTC enforcement actions on this front with other "education" firms. Look at the...

Steps for underqualified traders to find a prop firm

I have to agree with that. By the time you get done hopefully the market risk atmosphere would have improved and at least you will have that credential. Right now, firms just do not want to take on any risk. The college degree is truly kinda the minimal filter - I would imagine that alot of...
