Learning to Spread Trade with a Full Time Job

I personally think that the exchange websites, under the educational resources sections, have the best material that I have seen that is "free". Most of the white papers are excellent, especially the ones authored by the exchange product specialists.

The top 3 guys who make over 1 million a year at my firm...

Just a few observations: 1. From my own personal knowledge, these days it appears that a majority of Chicago prop firm traders are doing some sort of spread or arbitrage or correlation strategy. Please keep in mind that these are primarily futures vs. futures or some sort of futures vs...

    Eurodollar spreading

cd, IMHO, just model them off of price action and trade them just like you would any other spread product. You'll like them - they trend very well and behave quite nicely. And they are stupidly cheap to carry overnight in terms of margin. Which is good because you'll need to hold them for...

Trading straight out of High School

One thing that I've noticed in your posts is that you have quite the propensity for throwing out judgmental statements as fact. You like to say nasty things about other people you know nothing about. Honestly, you're way way way bitchier than most chicks I've met. Troll somewhere else. You...

Trading straight out of High School

I saved enough in HS to buy a car and pay for my first two years of college that wasn't covered by scholarship. I stocked groceries and had a paper route. I don't think that HS students saving is anything terribly unusual. My own two teenaged daughters have saved quite a bit of money. I...

MIT's average ACT score is 34, so I do not think that his 31 is out of line for your average white guy. Plus, he did tell me that he plans on taking it again.

Trading straight out of High School

Glad to see that you are a man of your word and a true gentleman. And thanks for staying on topic and contributing to the discussion at hand - namely, should a really smart egg pursue a trading career straight away or college first ? I am not saying that this particular ET Member was...

Then let's bet $10K in cash on it. Seriously. Baron can check the emails and verify with the ET Member I write about. Then you can fly into O'Hare with my money.

Trading straight out of High School

I was contacted by an ET Member who is begging to become a client, and I said "no", and he wanted a reason, and so I gave him the complete unvarnished truth. Now, I say "no" to many ET Members or other prospects who contact me because I am looking for a certain background in a client. Now this...

Question about openning an Investment Bank Account To Trade.

Many of my clients clear Advantage, some clear Rosenthal Collins Group or Kotke or one of the many other traditional Chicago firms. Some still clear IB because they want more of an "omnibus" type account which allows them to trade equities, futures, options, forex, from the same account...

Learning to Spread Trade with a Full Time Job

I think that the very best free information on spread trading is available on the exchange websites' educational section. CME, Eurex, and Liffe-Euronext all have some very white good papers on the topic. My personal observation is that "seasonal" tendencies have become less prominent over...

Trading with a Stop Loss in the Futures Market is for Losers

If anyone on this thread thinks for one millisecond that a HF or Bank Desk trader, regardless of background and experience level, trades without a stop - either self or management imposed; then you are seriously delusional. All of those traders must be losers then, according to EMG ?

    CL Dec Spreads

All horseplay aside and lighthearted jabs aside, I am so pleased that there are some passionate spread traders like Mandrykk and CDcaveman posting here on ET. IMHO, for many of the members I see posting here on ET there needs to be a lot more spreading and a lot less of this psychotic manual...

I wouldn't buy it, that's for sure. That particular combination doesn't move the earth for me at the moment. What I find sexy for STIRs on that part of the curve is the GE H5-M5-U5-Z5 Condor.

    Any cotton experts?

I've traded Cotton Futures ( spreads ) electronically a few times and I was aghast. The liquidity gaps and volatility made Copper and Unleaded Gasoline look like Eurodollars for God's sake. What a wild child.

Best to hire a professional. I cannot think of a market with more idiosyncracies and closely held knowledge than power. Also, make sure you have the capital for the financially cleared ICE and Nymex swap products.
