    Technical Analysis Issue

Love that song....I remember it well from my childhood days. Wish I had lived it...married 2 "cuties" and divorced each of them (actually they filed first).

Why can't I pull the trigger?

That's a great strategy as long as the stock has liquidity. Usually, the movers do.

Amen, amen...this guy needs to rediscover his balls.

Dollar Index - Double Top - ready to go down ?

FXA options traded on the CBOE. However, volume is light. Interestingly, there is tons of open interest in the puts with a strike of 72 - Jan16 expiration. Dec15 has much lower open interest.

Dollar Index - Double Top - ready to go down ?

Thanks for that CSwim...and that's my big problem: thinking too much....instead of acting. Is there a way to play the Aussie dollar via options or I am stuck to spot or futures ?

Dollar Index - Double Top - ready to go down ?

I see that to trade the dollar index one must go to ICE as the CME does not have options for the US Dollar index. Looking at the charts, symbol DX hit 102.5 back in March and it looks now that the US Dollar could take-out that high. Of course, the Fed's talk of interest rate increases is causing...

Why can't I pull the trigger?

I think all of this psych stuff was well depicted in the movie "American Sniper" which is one of my all-time favs. That guy never got "rattled".

Why can't I pull the trigger?

I totally agree. He needs this badly. His "business first" attitude is not really working out.

Why can't I pull the trigger?

Stay away from anything with less than Avg daily volume of 2 million. That's a hard-and-fast rule for day traders.

Why can't I pull the trigger?

Yeah, but if you trade sim for a month and have only a couple of losing days, you are much less likely to blow-up when you trade real money...IF YOU FOLLOW YOUR RULES THE SAME. That's the key.

re: "How can I get over this?" Dude - you need a shrink.....you are severely lacking in confidence.

One for the ages: I owe Etrade $106k, ouch.

Knowing only the name is useless. Now, having the account number would be something else.

    Distribution of wins/losses

Totally agree. I've seen great systems with a 55-60% win rate and lousy systems with an 80% win rate. The problem with high win rate systems is that you have many trades with tiny profits and then you get clobbered by one big losing trade.

I am sure they could at least verify that he had an account there and that the account is now suspended.

Not possible. It was posted on MarketWatch.com which VERIFIES all of it's published articles and stories.

High-Low Range Charts - Market Breadth Analysis

I'd love to test a reversion-to-mean strategy whereby I go short the top 20% (i.e. 80%+) and simultaneously go long the bottom 20% (i.e. 20%-). One of the conditions would be that the shorts have 2 consecutive months of declining values and the longs have 2 consecutive months of increasing values.

High-Low Range Charts - Market Breadth Analysis

    Yes, you got it except you must weight by the $ holding value of the stock. Avg% = ($5k * .20 + $10k * .25) / $15k Got it ?

You got lucky Dude. Yep, if I stayed in and did not get liquidated at the open, the market bounced on that Monday and I would have stayed down the $3k. If I had been able to hold till expiration, I would have been even on the trade.

One for the ages: I owe Etrade $106k, ouch.

Of course, this reminds me of the time when I was naked short 3 little puts in the Nasdaq 100 index. I was "up" $2k and didn't close-out my position because I wanted to hold it till the end to squeeze out another $1k of premium. What a bad idea. 2 weeks later, with 1 week left till expiration...

There was no fraud here. He left because we were making those claims and he didn't want to bother with defending against those claims.
